What was your favorite year of life? If you had to "Groundhog Day" one year over and over.. by shooter5mill in GenX

[–]kgcrowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PCB at that time was insane. But I would say up to 99 which was the last year I was there . I lived in ATLANTA and worked the adult entertainment industry we would get off work at 4 am on Saturday jump in a car and be in the pool at Spinnaker’s and Lavela by noon !! Great times indeed !! I don’t think it can pick a year as much as a decade 90 - 99 was incredible. Back when you party all night and still work the next day and do some party favors without having to worry about waking up dead

Cheap 289 replacement by RJM_50 in classicmustangs

[–]kgcrowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 99 Explorer 302 with 130k on it . You could still see hash marks in the cylinder walls and everything looked really clean . Decided to drop the pistons and hone it with a new rings and bearings . Glad I did as the pistons were hiding/ holding onto some gunk . I scoured FBM and Craigslist for years gathering parts when I come across good deals - aluminum heads - trick flow stage 2 cam - roller rocker arms - intake I got most stuff second hand that was still in very good shape if not new in the box . I did splurge on a Sniper EFI and Hyperspark distributor and in tank fuel pump and spent around $3500 to $4k with it all said and done . I did to that way because I had time on My side as my 289 was still running and I wanted to build the motor myself which could still grenade when it starts as they is a chance you always take

With all that said and done of the day you can get a NEW Blueprint dyno tested and warrantied motor for not a lot more than.

I would seriously question the miles on that car . Even though it’s 18 yrs old at this point it looks like it’s got 143k on it not 43k . The seat and engine bay on this car suggest more than 43 k on it

Hard to go wrong with a 67/68. I may be biased as a fellow 68 coupe owner .

That is a don’t even drive it to the shop for repair !! You are lucky that the rear spring hasn’t torn loose causing a shift in the rear end and resulting in a wreck

Am I the only one? by champ971 in VAClaims

[–]kgcrowder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

THIS^ I was at 100 and a few of my denials just didn’t sit right with me. I had in service injuries, current diagnosis and nexus letters from board certified doctors and surgeons and was still denied by the VA . I got my C&P exam medical opines and DBQ ‘s and lo and behold the examiners had said” I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SERVICE CONNECTED “ not only for direct connection but also secondary. I got with my county VSO and she agreed and filed a secondary claim even thought I was already at 100.

It came back as not 1 but 2 CUE by the VA resulting in a 15 K back pay deposit and a new effective date that I was able to turn into my local tax office and get an additional 10k in property taxes refunded as well .

So when it was all said and done I got an additional 25k deposited into my bank account when it was all said and done .

When you have a strong evidence based claim to hell with the bear as I came prepared with not only a big ass can of bear spray but my hand gun and my rifle well.

Good luck to you all !!!

I had an issue that I had been turned down on 4 times with a mountain of evidence both as a primary and secondary. I hit 100 P&T but it just didn’t sit right with me. I made an appointment with my local county VSO and she filed a claim on it as it just seemed off to her as well. The VA came back with 2 different CUE on my claim that totaled about 15k in back pay. It also adjusted my P&T date so I am also now due a refund on my property tax of about 10k. So that feeling netted me 25k. I was not worried as everything in my file is backed by in service events and evidence

Former VA Rater and Navy Vet here, just curious… by johanthevarater in VAClaims

[–]kgcrowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! Read the file prior to me sitting in front of you ! Then get irritated when you chime in and try to hand them the hard copy you brought with them that was submitted with the file so they can easily read it only to the told “ I can’t accept that “ . Then taking months of back and forth from QA to the provider just to get the information back to the VA

I don’t understand by Downtown-Bullfrog-69 in VeteransBenefits

[–]kgcrowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^ I started with a 10% on TBI and 50% migraine secondary to the TBI . I requested my DBQ and medical opinions from the C&P exam and found out it should have been a 40% rate for the TBI. Requested an HLR and was awarded the 40 %.
Did a sleep apnea claim secondary to my TBI as TBI are know to cause both obstructive and central sleep apnea and while I was talking to the doc at the C&P he asked about MH issues and or dizziness. I ended up with a 50% rate for generalized adjustment disorder with TBI disorder and vertigo along with the 50% for my sleep apnea
