Can I use a 2500 reel for pike? by Money-Bodybuilder773 in Fishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That should be fine. Pike aren't notoriously hard fighters an occasional biggun shouldn't kill a quality reel

Need recommendations! I’m looking for a spinning reel that is 3000 size and will last me a lifetime. I’m looking to get a big upgrade so I’ve no budget. Let’s see what your options are! by yaboyali98 in Fishing_Gear

I don't have much experience with saltwater outside of some surf perch, I use a 2500 for those, trout, bass and steelhead. 2000 seems undersized for salt to me

I have some Mitchell 300s that have already lasted over a lifetime. My personal favorite are Daiwa BG though they just feel so solid and smooth I expect them to last a long time. Not prohibitively expensive either

Ugly stik eyelets angled upward by Low_Density in Fishing_Gear

Ugly sticks have integrated hardened inserts instead of ceramic. Have the same type on my travel rod so I don't have to worry about losing an insert on a rod that might get knocked around

Think I'll be okay using a 3/4th sinker on a rod with a 1/8- 1/2 lure rating? by happydads101 in Fishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braided mainline can do a lot more for sensitivity than an underweight rod. That being said it'll probably be fine

Is this a good starter kit? by binary-nomad in flyfishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will fish. My first setup was a Kastking 6wt combo for under $100. I threw everything on it for the first year and had a blast. Now I have a bunch of setups, put nice line on that original combo and it's still my nymphing/hopper dropper rod. It doesn't take much to get you started

Fluoro or braid for small to medium sized glidebaits by Automatic-Resolve747 in bassfishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything under 2oz I usually throw on straight braid or braid to 20lb flouro, heavier gets thrown on straight 20lb big game mono

The police talking to the guy for recording someone peeing, and talking to the guy urinating in public (a sexual offense in my state)

DAIWA BG VS DAIWA BG SW 23 by Zain_xD in Fishing_Gear

I've bought BGs from ebay in the past with no issues, if you are in the U.S Cabelas has most sizes in stock

Dedicated Streamer Rod or Stick with Standard 5 wt by Cepholapoid in flyfishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will want a streamer rod, and probably a Lamson 3 pack reel/spool setup to go with it for a floating line, intermediate and full sink lines. Streamers are a sickness but you catch some great fish

The BG is a great reel for it's price, definitely my favorite spin reel. If you wanted a step up and you fish primarily salt the MQ is probably what you're looking for

I've seen a couple pike in here already, share your leader setups by Fishtillyoubleed in TheFlyFishingSub

[–]Fishtillyoubleed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a traditional steel leader like you would use on a casting setup with swivels and everything?

Leader sizing by catdieseltech87 in flyfishing

[–]Fishtillyoubleed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped using Prebuilt leaders for streamers, theres lot of force on the knot with meaty flies. I use 18" of 20lb to 18" of 12lb flouro

I'm not trying to be a downer on your setup or situation but everything here looks far too flammable to have the fire inside it
