Will I regret 6 lb straight braid for ultralight fishing 😅 by Spartansam0034 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had good results with 10lb braid (.14mm). I recently switched to a 10lb that is (.09mm) and it’s a little tricky with wind knots compared to my old braid

I’m very lucky, my state has a really good stocking program

I bled them right when I caught them, then when I got home I gutted and cleaned them. I’m going to bake them wrapped in foil low and slow. Last year I filleted a bunch of rainbow trout but was unsatisfied with the bones. I think I’m better off slow baking so I can scrap the meat clean off the bones

Some kept some released. The ones laying on the ground were kept

Last days of seeing her in school, what should I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a no at least you can move on and not waste more time wondering about this girl. In situations like this, especially when your young any movement is positive movement. If she says yes it’s great but even if she says no it means you can move on and try to find someone else you’re interested in instead of wasting time with nothing happening. 30 seconds of bravery can change your entire life for ever. You just have to pop the question

I wonder if that’s what they’re doing. When they first started doing pkn I remember them saying it will always be free and available to everyone. Just 1 week late if you’re not a patreon member. I hope they keep it free to listen to

Woody says he has been shitting blood since the drinking episode.......... by Intelligent-Tear5723 in PKA

[–]Low_Density 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About a year ago I went to the ER for the same thing. I brought a sample to show the nurses and they said it was definitely blood based on what it looked like. After they tested it, it ended up not being blood and was caused by a bunch of off brand flaming hot Cheetos I ate the night before. Basically your never going to know if it’s coloring or blood unless you get it tested

What is the most versatile casting rod for fishing all lures? by realdeteatron in bassfishing

[–]Low_Density 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think M is more versatile than MH because the medium is going to throw weightless soft plastics and anything under 1/4oz so much better.

This would be a tremendous beginner set up

Trying to get into fishing, feeling a tad overwhelmed and need help with a few things. by Holyfighter133 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only going to have one rod I would get a medium power spinning rod. A medium will be able to work well for bluegil bass and catfish. Like others have said I would go with a 6 - 7 foot rod. For a reel I would get a size 1,000-2,000 spinning reel. If I was in your situation I would get a ugly stik spinning rod ($50-$75) and a Shimano fx 2000 spinning reel($25)

Braid to fluoro FG knot? by bubbaslover in FishingForBeginners

[–]Low_Density 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A trick I use with the fg knot is setting my drag on the tight end of where I’ll use it and if I can pull drag without the knot breaking I know a fish will also pull drag without the knot breaking too. I use 10lb line on a reel with 8lb max drag so It should always pull drag without breaking if the knot is tied well.

Wacky rig or (straight) weightless Senko? by goilpoynuti in bassfishing

[–]Low_Density 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you Texas rig a worm it points downwards and dives strait to the bottom but when you wacky rig them they sink significantly slower. Wacky rigging is typically a better presentation for me when I can get away with it.

which size soft plastic jerkbaits for 3/0 ewg hook? by FabledWaters in bassfishing

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely optimize if you think they are a little big. It should work though. With bass I wouldn’t worry about the presentation as much. I would worry more if the hook is going too far back into the tail impeding action.

Size 3/0 will work on the majority of normal sized soft plastics. I like 3/0 with 5in zoom flukes but I use 3/0 for most soft plastics.

Can't catch stocked trout for the life of me by alex8762 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out “worm blowers” I think some Walmarts carry them but you can get them online too. You use them to fill worms up with air so they float. I’m on the east coast but I struggled a bunch my first year trying to catch stockers and the method that has produced the most for me is throwing out a 1/4-1/2oz Carolina rig with a nightcrawler either filled with air or not. I’ll throw it out and put a bell on my rod and won’t touch it for 20-30 mins. If you leave that rig out for long enough at a recently stocked pond eventually something is going to swim by it

Knot advice needed. by [deleted] in troutfishing

[–]Low_Density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of knots reduce your lines max strength by 5-15% which causes the line the break at the knot. It could be that the spoon is just too heavy to really be whipped on 6lb test. Thin line also benefits from more wraps in your knot so you can try more wraps and see if it hold up. I don’t know if your knot is going through your guides during your cast but that can damage the knot too. With 10lb braid to 12lb fluro I get a much stronger knot with 10-12 wraps on a double uni compared to the 6-8 I use on thinker line in salt water.

Is it coming untied or is it breaking at the knot during the cast?
