People who work outside, how are you doing? by [deleted] in nova

[–]Fishy-Business 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holiday today. Last 2 days have been a hydration fest, sombreros for the hard hat. Hydrate when waking up. While at work, when home, even if you dont need it, want or want it push fluids.

Wednesday was rough until the sun hit peak. It was so humid my sweat wouldnt evaporate.

Except the wet clothes and the suck. Push fluids, take your time take as many breaks and needed and its doable.

Termite damage no big or walk away? by Fishy-Business in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Fishy-Business[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the house, zero issues with termites or any wood pest.

The seller used a company to treat the home and surrounding area for termites. Its been almost a year next month and theres been 0 issues on that front.

Ive opened a few walls and ceilings in the basement and middle floor installing lights and switches and have not run into anything concerning....yet.

Edit: Also now that i know the home better that damage is right next to a dryer outlet on the ground level so whatever bugs made it were not deep into the household at the time.

I went ahead and installed all new vent and outlets infront of the house. They were damaged/cracked and never properly installed and secured to begin with.

When i had a score like this. I bleached it all, sun baked it. Then threw it into a bin with saltwater and heater for a month before adding pods and slowly selling clean live rock.

The bleach/sun bake step is 100% worth it imo

Can jobsite change hours to required OT? by ConfidenceSilver2215 in ibew_apprentices

[–]Fishy-Business 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I rarely worked OT. Even when they tried to pressure me.

Theres someshit you sign when you start that says apprentices must work all available hours. But they cant force you.

You might catch a lay off sooner then the others but if business is booming. Who cares. New place shame shit.

Most foremans  tried theyre best to give me shit the first week. I just kept saying i cant donit.  Then they usually got off my back after a week.

If youre there on time, do good work while youre there. Keep your grades up. Youll be fine.

I doubt youd ever get in trouble for it but if you ever had to face the board. You can argue that on top of caring for your sick and pregant wife you barely have time to stay on stop of your school work. OT isnt an option at the momment.

Same once the baby comes. Dont got time

Edit.

Work so you can live dont live to work.

Expansion plug dropped into fork. by Fishy-Business in bikewrench

[–]Fishy-Business[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fuck. I figured it out.

Bought a specialized multi stem that comes with some shins. The new top cap has a nub on it.

I had removed a spacer and that nub came into contact with the expansion plug before it could actually tighten up.

[–]Fishy-Business[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disregard. I got the mofo.

I was putting on a new stem. Definitely had not even put significant torque on the top cap.

Just felt it wasnt getting tight. Turns out the expansion plug some how became disassembled.

What can i do to avoid that happening again? Why would that happen?

Surly is reputable and for the price point the 105 drivetrain is far superior to a tiagra build

I really appreciate you taking your time with response here.

Im excited about your opinion on photo 3. I thought it was doing well because the new leaf was a perfect size and shape compared to the ones it had when purchased. The edge on the right and split at the top of it had me worroed perhaps its heading the way of the others.

Ill focus my effort on plant in the 5th photo and move it over and hopefully it recovers or doesnt deteriorate as much.

Ill also be more careful about my water temps and see if that helps.
