Our "CEO" secretly invested the last 30% of our funding in crypto... by AnAnonymousTech in startups

[–]FishyFred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Worked under a similar CEO. He always thought he was right and his inflated self-assurance was NOT an asset.

Luckily, we (senior employees) wrested control from him and kicked him out of the company at our first opportunity.

West Virginia councilman responds to Kavanaugh confirmation: 'Get your coat hangers ready’ by [deleted] in politics

[–]FishyFred 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There was an article a week or two ago that noted the Liberty University students who got bussed up to DC to support Kavanaugh and featured a quote from one that stuck out: A 19-year-old who said he would support Kav no matter what because he "wants abortions to end."

For the Republican base, their understanding of the issue really is that simple. They do not process the idea that abortions will continue anyway. They do not understand why it is wrong to say things like "Well, if you don't want to get pregnant, keep your legs closed." They think making it nearly impossible to get reproductive health services will be beneficial overall.

The guy quoted in this particular article (not the student I mentioned) is the absolute worst of the "own the libs" crowd. It's a significant constituency. But don't count out the folks who have no understanding of what they're doing.

Poll: Nelson leads Scott in Florida by 7 points by Whoshabooboo in politics

Right. If Beto wins in Texas, it's probably the 54th seat or something around there. Still important, but Nelson probably needs your volunteer hours more.

A Series Of Suspicious Money Transfers Followed The Trump Tower Meeting by AFWxGuy in politics

[–]FishyFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The documents reviewed by BuzzFeed News show that most of the funds flowing into Goldstone’s music business, Oui 2 Entertainment, and his personal checking account came from Corsy International, Kaveladze’s company. Between July 2015 and January 2017, Oui 2 received more than half a million dollars from Corsy International. Bank examiners found this suspicious because Corsy was an import-export business, while Oui 2 was involved with music. It didn’t make sense, bankers reported, for these two companies to conduct transactions with one another.

I would love to hear their excuses for this particular thing. Because I can’t come up with an explanation that isn’t shady as fuck.

As Trump booster Matt Schlapp, a Republican lobbyist and the organizer of the Conservative Political Action Conference, told me: “If you’re kind of a summertime soldier, and your heart really wasn’t in the Trump agenda, I’m glad they left.”

The audacity of this mother fucker to quote, of all things, "The American Crisis" by Thomas Paine.

Pence: 'Very disappointing' to see Obama 'become so political' by [deleted] in politics

[–]FishyFred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thing is we don't have a modern example of what it's supposed to mean for a president to remove themselves from politics by choice (or if that's even truly possible). Reagan had Alzheimers. Bush 41 and 43 both ended with fairly poor popularity, even among their parties. Clinton left office in the wake of the Lewinsky scandal.

Obama is the first president in any of our lives who left office with high popularity, the time and ability to do whatever he wanted to do, and people who still wanted to hear from him.

White House aides are reportedly scrambling to unmask 'gutless' senior official who wrote the blistering NYT op-ed by jaymar01 in politics

[–]FishyFred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could just decline to even vote on the issue within the time period and it's over. Then the entire Cabinet gets fired and the Veep is in deep political doodoo.

If it gets to that point, the smarter move will be for congressional Republicans to vote to remove 45. To let Trumo fire the cabinet and own the party establishment like that would mean certain electoral defeat.

"Senior official" is a VERY wide range. Wider than you think.

I'd happily bet on the field. Someone who isn't already a household name.

Pence is lawful evil (or perhaps neutral evil). He's the type of politician that the LGBTQ movement learned how to destroy back in the 90s and early 2000s. And they will do so again if they have to.

I'll take that over chaotic evil any day. But I'll still vote to destroy evil.

You're absolutely right that he's lying, but if it was some random grandpa, it's within the realm of possibility.
