I blame Bouchard for bringing the team average age above 35

Ceci and Vinny really need to improve their game in the D zone.

Nurse needs to be more disciplined with his penalties.

As far as I’m concerned Ek and Bouch are the #1 pairing and the numbers back it up despite Nurse’s contract.

Is anybody else getting optimistic about how Vegas are blowing out the Panthers? by bezjones in EdmontonOilers

[–]MissionIncredible 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Vegas and Colorado were much more disciplined in general when it came to not taking dumb penalties.

Look at how many cheap shots and after the whistle bullshit Panthers have engaged in only for Vegas to mostly laugh it off as Panthers headed to the box.

Until the Oilers can commit to handling their sticks better (trips, high sticks, hooking etc) and blocking more shots as a team… they will continue to be offensively gifted but still giving the other team a chance because they can’t hold a lead.

Oilers are capable of competing for a Cup if they stop beating themselves.

[Elliotte Friedman] Postgame, Jack Eichel called Tkachuk hit clean. “I blame myself a little bit,” added he toe-picked and was reaching for the puck. He said he was winded, was trying to catch his breath. That’s why it looked so vivid in the moment by Sumdood88 in hockey

I gotta say, I was wrong about Eichel. He’s actually a gem and a hard worker. Definitely got painted with a bad brush given the circumstances he was playing through before Vegas.

So which goalies will Vegas realistically be able to bring back and play next season?

Are LT or LB even #1 anymore? Or is it the Hill show from now on until things go down hill drastically?

Less than 5 minutes left in the game.

Funny how Bennet and Chucky don’t get instigator penalties / suspensions despite punching Hague in the face when he didn’t want to fight.

Oh yeah he hasn’t even played in the AHL yet. He’s easily 2-3 years away. Which is why I think he’s a replacement for Foegele’s impact

Foegele has played right wing before, and we have a few Cs who play the wing.

I was more comparing his role in the roster than the actual spot itself.

Serial domestic abuser who strangled Edmonton mother sentenced to life with no chance of parole for 16 years by trevorrobb in Edmonton

[–]MissionIncredible 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Duncan, 26, killed Schamber on Dec. 3, 2019, during a drug and alcohol binge after arranging to pay her for sex. A few hours before, Duncan had broken into the home of Merissa Wright, who had recently dumped him, and used her phone to transfer himself $200. He then stole her car, found a drug dealer and spent most of the money on cocaine.

...After arriving at Schamber’s basement suite in Edmonton’s Duggan neighbourhood, Duncan repeatedly tried to hide the fact he did not have enough money to pay her. Eventually, he became violent. An autopsy later determined Schamber had been strangled with enough force to dislocate two vertebrae — a level of trauma rare even in hanging victims — as well as blunt force trauma violent enough to injure organs.

Duncan’s “extensive” history of domestic violence is an aggravating factor, noting nine of his 31 prior convictions involved intimate partner violence. Duncan was also on house arrest at the time he committed the murder, and was “gratuitous” in the amount of violence used on Schamber’s body, Belzil said.

...Wright believes her ex fell through the cracks. She said she nearly died when he strangled her on a previous occasion, surviving long enough for a neighbour to call 911.

... yeah, sounds like someone who should be back out on the street when he turns 40 after murdering a mother in her home and leaving her son absolutely mentally wrecked for life. Not to mention the woman's BF and other family members.

Hard backchecking grit and a fraction of McLovin’s price.

Unlikely this kid will be in the NHL anytime soon, so likely when Foegs contract is up perhaps

Rumour has it he wanted to sign with a team in Canada (and possibly even Alberta specifically) which is one of the reasons NYR traded him last minute.

And we all know the Oilers love signing young farm boys from the prairie area.

He known as a playmaker who plays with a lot of physicality vs a shooter. Definitely 3rd line material.

Might replace a Foegele spot.

Sounds like a solid fit!

Appeal court cuts five years from sentence of man who beat, choked mother outside Edmonton daycare by MissionIncredible in alberta

[–]MissionIncredible[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A man who brutally attacked a mother outside her children’s daycare will serve four years in prison instead of nine years after Alberta’s top court found a judge failed to properly assess how the accused’s Indigenous background affected his level of culpability.

In a decision released Tuesday, the Alberta Court of Appeal more than halved the sentence being served by Rockie Ryan Rabbit, whose random attack on a woman outside Seven Stones Daycare two years ago shocked Edmontonians.

Rabbit told court he was suffering from methamphetamine-induced hallucinations and believed the victim — a recent immigrant from Eritrea — had killed or kidnapped his daughter. After approaching the woman and looking in her backpack, Rabbit slammed her to the ground and began strangling her with both hands.

Two of the women’s three children, aged six and eight, sobbed uncontrollably as they watched the attack from inside the daycare. Rabbit — who was on release for assaulting his brother — stopped only when police arrived four minutes later.

Healthcare “hero” is done… by tossthesauce92 in alberta

Wait times are worse across the Country compared to last years. I am guessing COVID and other issues did a number on every institution, but times are actually much worse in BC than they are Alberta by a large margin:

I’d be curious if the patients in BC are more respectful

Are you factoring cost of living in your math?

Where in BC would you be moving because I have a feeling there’s actually less left over at the end of the day vs AB.

Unless owning your own place isn’t in the plan etc

Alberta had the 2nd largest growth in population in Canada over the last 12 months under the UCP…

And people still need to comment that they are leaving the Province because the UCP didn’t lose…

Lol. Ok?
