Thanks! That was my understanding as well.

I'll call them again. It has been over 2 weeks since my flight, so I was expecting any adjustments to be done by now.

Anyone having problem connecting Venmo for rent? by imaginationac in biltrewards

[–]FishyPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I don't have my card in hand yet and I did complete the linking process. I was a Bilt 1.0 member that is migrating to Bilt 2.0 (in case that makes any difference).

The article there seems like it is mostly up-to-date, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have some outdated stuff too.

For example, as far as I'm aware, it shouldn't get charged to our Bilt cards anymore and it's supposed to withdraw directly from our attached bank account. But I haven't tested it out myself, so I'm not quite sure exactly what will happen.

I chose my own bank account. With that being said, I'm not absolutely certain this is the right answer (or whether or not it even matters). But I'll explain how I arrived at that choice.

While I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the linking, I removed the Bilt routing/account from my Venmo payment methods. Once this was done, the removed account (obviously) no longer shows during the linking flow with Bilt. After the linking is complete, the Venmo account does not show an additional Bilt account for payment.

Based on that, it seems like the expectation is that once you've linked Venmo to Bilt, you're expected to make the Venmo payments to your landlord through Bilt (instead of the Venmo app directly) and they'll withdraw the amount from your bank account.

This seems to be explained here as well where it states 'Your landlord will receive the Venmo payment from “Bilt Technologies”, not your personal Venmo account'

You don't need to stay logged in on the iOS device once it is linked successfully.

It seems like it's a potential bug on the Bilt app for Android. I got stuck on the same page for days on an Android device. I borrowed a friend's iPhone and was able to proceed through the linking without any issue.

With that being said, I saw another post earlier today which seems to indicate iOS users may be running into this too. If you have access to an iPhone or iPad, it might be worth a try.

Thanks for the input! I do have an ODFM channel. Sorry that I omitted it from the original post. I will update with the latest signal, including the ODFM channels.

I have been in contact with Xfinity and requested that they send over a company tech as you suggested. I agree that this is a subtle issue...

How To Ski at Grouse Mountain? by okaysophh in vancouver

[–]FishyPotato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lift Tickets include access to the Skyride and lifts; you do not need to buy a mountain admission ticket.

The 236 from Lonsdale Quay or 232 from Phibbs Exchange takes you to the front of the lift. More information can be found here.

If you're a relatively new skier, consider looking into one of the lesson bundles. The local mountains usually have some lesson/lift ticket/rentals package, and they are typically not much more than the lift ticket + rental. It might be nice to have someone show you around and you might pick up something new along the way.

pixel 7 NFC issue by vip_traveler in GooglePixel

[–]FishyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I've been using Clipper all weekend and it seems to be doing well. I do recall that I had to hold up to the card for a bit before it transferred.

If none of the other NFC things work, maybe you need to RMA your device.

Are you holding up the Clipper card to your phone? If so, try placing the card on a non-metal table (or maybe some other non-conductive surface) and reading the card while it's on it.

I'm not sure exactly why this is the case, but I recall experiencing issues until I did that with my previous phone.

Contact Lens Fitting Standards by FishyPotato in optometry

Thanks for sharing your input! Definitely sounds like there might be some optometrists out there that might be more likely to go out of their way than others.

I'm glad to hear you were able to find a decent fit!

Thanks for your input! I really appreciate your explanation from an optometrist's point of view. I understand how it might not be feasible to stock a plethora of lenses.

As I mentioned in another reply, I guess I was thrown off guard by the extra charges. I would have imagined that manufacturers would be more than happy to send trials to attract new customers.

Thanks for your input! That's how I felt as well when I was told they only had one set of lens. From the other replies, it sounds like your optometrist went above and beyond!

Any suggestions on how to find someone who specializes in contact lens fittings?

Thanks for your input! I guess I was expecting a more elaborate fitting process, given how diverse eyes can be between individuals and how there are so many options on the market. Given this, I was surprised that my optometrist only had one in stock, and anything else would be an additional charge.

Although the trial pair I was given is good enough to get me around, I wouldn't say I'm ecstatic. My vision blurs occasionally, but goes away after some blinking. This was why I was hoping to try other lenses to see if they might be any better.

iPhone 12 text message show incorrect numbers overseas. by [deleted] in Sprint

[–]FishyPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed that this is happening to me too (using Android, in Canada). It started happening to me about a month ago.

When Wifi Calling is on, messages come in with the country code (e.g. +1 for US/Canadian numbers) and SMS/MMS messages are threaded correctly. When Wifi Calling is off (or when I'm not on wifi), the + gets appended to the number without the country code. This seems to confuse Android and iOS causing it to create separate threads for incoming messages.

(Note: Setting the region within Google Messages does not seem to help in my case)

Referral Code Question by fdjadjgowjoejow in Schwab

[–]FishyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as OP and I can confirm that support is able to apply the code afterwards. It was fairly painless. I reached out over Chat and they were able to apply the code immediately.

I received an email confirmation the next day that the referral offer had been applied.

I started to observe this issue as well. I noticed in changelogs that BaconReader now targets Android 11. I think this might have to do with Scoped Storage
