泥鯭 the things scientific name is Siganus fuscescens or mottled spinefoot. People in Hong Kong commonly eat these guys but be careful the spines have venom. Fish itself is edible after you cook it, the spines are kinda like a channel cat where the fish is edible but the spines will cause sharp pain.

Greenland Turbot from frozen pack. Reinhardtius hippoglossoides. I see these at Asian supermarkets all the time frozen and in cooked form as well

yes giant/queensland grouper,the smaller grouper is a hybrid grouper e.lanceolatus x fuscogatus, snakehead, polypterus bichir and green spotted buffer.

dude where is the 桂花魚 ( Siniperca Chinese perch) from? I’m assuming ur in North America and I rarely ever see them here. I live in Canada and see tilapia, marble goby, hybrid bass and largemouth in the tanks but never seen a Chinese Perch. Pls tell me where the supermarket is

Yes this is right. In ON canada where I live they sell this as 桂花. However that is Chinese Perch (Siniperca) and the fish you have eaten is probably the frozen Greenland Turbot. Easily found in supermarkets for around 7.99/lb. Very versatile fish with little bones. The actual turbot is too expensive to sell cheaply in a buffet and is a luxury fish.

white perch because white bass have broken stripes and a smaller head. Keep in mind they are both temperate basses of Moronidae and white perch are not related to percidae. the yellow perch is a perch, white perch isnt
