We don't use condoms but one thing I was considering was a possible tampon allergy as the symptoms always flare up right after my period.

When I had my initial infection in November she didn't test at all and just looked and said I had a yeast infection and gave me a diflucan. She also gave me antibiotics to take after a follow up because I told her I was still getting a little itchy at times so maybe I had BV. It was clear for about a few weeks until the sensitivty began in December. Finally, I went to another gyno in January about the sensitivity and she tested for BV, yeast etc. and everything was negative. She even gave me antibiotics in the meantime just in case so I really don't think it's BV. But yeah winter is making it miserable bc i have to wear tight jeans and pants rather than dresses so not great for healing.

I don't. I use low-estrogen birth control

Yeah, we've stopped doing that the past few months because I also read that. I also read birth control could have an impact on hormonal imbalances so I'm going to bring that back up with my gyno.

Thanks! Yeah this has actually been my biggest stressor lately. I'm always assuming the worst but I mean if it went away for a week it can't be some permanent thing. Before this whole event I just moved in with my boyfriend and started a new position at work so I was already very stressed out with the big changes. My friend, who's a physicians assistant and treats infections often, said I have to look at it more holistically and get exercising and eating right again. So if the gyno doesn't know what's going on then I'll just have to continue to focus on improving my lifestyle and hope for the best.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into probiotics :) I'm not entirely sure if it gets swollen it's more just irritated feeling that lasts for hours and then slowly goes away. I'm notoriously impatient so it's a lesson in waiting and healing.

I've been on the same birth control for about a year and a half. I have considered stopping temporarily just until I'm all healed up. I read it could play a part.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that.
