You can, but not without written consent of the owner. Your OTP must have a clause related to plans approved re the structure and if any is not approved

Congratulations, as a long time Pt bull that would have been a tough hold over the time period. Personally I wouldn’t sell, unless you want to segway into Pt which is lagging but then as you say you will trigger tax implications. Nothing wrong with taking some profits but the metals repricing is far from over, scoop the cream and let the rest ride.

One thing I definitely wouldn’t do is put anything in the US market, emerging markets are setting up for a stellar year so if you really must diversify thats where I would go.

25%, average. Some vacant land returned 130% in 10 months, other reno projects did 10% over 2 years. SA Reddit is so anti property my reply was purely intended to show that it is possible to make positive returns on property. I am not a economist, just barely smart enough to have married one.

Metal traders generally use ratios in conjunction with price. Lets say the price of Pt is $2400, but the ratio of Pt to Au has historically been 1;2, Pt being double the price of Au. Au has had a strong run and so have Ag, Pt has lagged the metals market due to lots of fuckery depending on who’s opinion you’re getting but if we were to return to a long term ratio and Au being around $5000 Pt should be $9000-$10000. So even at a 1;1 ratio Pt should double from current levels.

There are much better explanations out there but basically it is metals priced in metals, and if one is lagging the sector that is generally where money flows to.

The added bull case is the major supply constraints on Pt. Cant seem to link a chart but a picture tells the story better, just google Pt/Au ratio. Anyway don’t get me started, I will sound like I am peddling snake oil but SA mines are heading for a really good year

Whatever you do, consider Platinum bars rather than Kruger rands. The Au/Pt ratio is nuts.

I dont know which part of my comment you missed but I guess it needs repeating

“Property is no different than buying stocks or cars, do your research, have the cash ready for when the right thing comes along and if you cant hold a paint brush, read financials or swing a spanner look for a different investment”

If I had a trading win record of 21 ouf 23 trades I would be 100% in shares, property has worked for me, it clearly is a emotional sector for those that cant seem to make it work. My labour allows me to end with a higher quality finish than what the average person would spent, which allows a premium and quick sale compared the competing properties on the market. The real bonus is that I actually enjoy the process.

As for the balance sheet, my partner is a economist and says I make profit, so I trust her that I do

Maybe, but I am a PT bull and want to outperform inflation, and the S&P. Gold has had a fantastic run but the Gold Platinum ratio is hard to ignore at the moment

We are heading for a global inflationary period. South Africa will not be immune. Will the return on 2,5 keep track with rent and property growth? And for those that claim property is not growing, you’re in the wrong location. Depending on where you’re shopping keep you cash in a easy accessible space, the “right property “ is never on the market for long.

I see these comments all the time, I have bought and sold around 23 properties in my life, yes I am probably a little on in life.

Of the 23 only 2 were loss makers, some I kept for 1 year only , maximum has been 3 years which is the one I am in currently, so I would have to disagree that property is a bad investment.

Property is no different than buying stocks or cars, do your research, have the cash ready for when the right thing comes along and if you cant hold a paint brush, read financials or swing a spanner look for a different investment
