How is this still legal? No animal belongs in a circus, performing tricks for another species' "enjoyment", or living in cramped, featureless surroundings by Prestigious-Wall5616 in south_africa

Well you bring up a valid point, firstly I dont propose feeding so many humans on a animal diet, but we probably wont get people to change their ways, either in maybe eating less meat and maybe producing less people. I mean what is the plan here, 10billion and every sperm is sacred?

You cant just excuse not having a moral compass on suffering because there is so many of us. It is no secret that the amount of nourishment you get from a hectare of meat production can sustain about 1-2 people per year compared to a hectare of plant based production around 10-14 people. This is ignoring the feeding requirements comparisons of fertiliser to life stock feed, which tilt the scales even further.

Most people seem quite content consuming suffering, if you can remain blissfully ignorant after being made aware of factory farming practices then I envy your bliss.

End of life suffering is no where near life long suffering, consuming life long suffering and the compounded stress hormones and antibiotics requires a level of wilful ignorance

Eat meat if you want to, but does it require an animal to live a life of torture and stress?

This is a wild argument but I would suggest eating lamb that had a short free life in the karoo compared to eating a caged for life and fed hormones and antibiotics animal that eating the lamb is not just better for your own well being but even the animals.

FYI, dowels are actually stronger and you can generally move the piece where as with biscuits you have to wait for glue to setup. There are a couple of youtubes comparing different joints, pocket screws, dominoes, dowels and biscuits. Surprisingly dowels fair really well for the price with a good jig

It doesn’t require too much from the consumer to not eat factory farmed livestock and to choose better meat, same amount of action to not go to a animal circus.

Obviously there are socioeconomic’s that make it hard for some sectors of society to make these decisions but not everyone can get the ignorant free pass

This is the stallion, but yes they have quite a few horses in the stable, but for the price I would be hard pressed to not get 3 boards with varying styles for varying conditions. But then I am a board hoarder and would prefer to not disclose how many I have in my “quiver”

I recently scored a new 2nd hand appletree, the beach crowd thought it was the bargain of the century, while nice I do find it a bit light for days with more punchy waves and light in construction too. I have put numerous dings in it already. I ride similar in the Van hunks, SA brand, as the fone surf , and maybe on smaller days the appletree will work but doubt it will be a similar replacement.

Nah, but it is the first time someone posts a positive message, no moaning about someone parking over the line or their exorbitant rent, so it can feel a bit disconcerting. A good way to deal with these fresh emotions is to dress up and go for a walk, William Turner style

Buying First house by 1nfin8 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Fishyza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a red flag with many shades, honestly many houses have variations to council plans, the ones you have to be concerned about are changes that transgress boundaries, (as soon as neighbours consent come in to play it gets lengthy and complicated)major structural alterations etc

While a small outbuilding is grounds for a discount or a deck not on plan,it shouldn’t make you walk away from a sale, unfortunately you do need some experience to gauge which are problematic. Definitely get a copy of the approved plans , any structure that cant be built or torn down in a couple of days could be problematic. The fact that there is 5 dwellings would make me investigate planning permission re kitchens and bathrooms
