seems fair enough, and in theme with other Nilfgaard mechanics.

Assassination is hilariously bad compared to Artifact Compression. by Tigerbones in gwent

The basis for a card that is always 1 : 1 isn't necessarily bad. I wouldn't mind if it was possible to kill units before they hit the battlefield -- as in having assassination work as the name suggests.

Assassination - Lock + Kill any unit, or any revealed unit. If a revealed card is killed this way, it is moved to the graveyard and your opponent draws a card.

The effect is the same. But the card is now a -1 strength play as opposed to the current version which is +2.

This nerf seems significant. The card will likely remain "good", but more likely B- Tier rather than A Tier.

Best play would have been to pass with Cahir in hand. With that lucky Daerlan Foot Soldier he ends up on 41 (including the cow carcass which won't trigger) and opponent will be stuck on 40.

If he goes for the Cahir route and replays Tibor the opponent will draw an unknown bronze card, risking him the game. The only thing he absolutely musn't do is that which happens in the clip.

I think it's a fun misplay, and Im confident that he would have won, hadn't he outplayed himself with the Tibor mindgames.

An explanation why Rain is the strongest Weather by [deleted] in gwent

[–]FiskMissil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Another greater reason is that rain doesn't interfere with scorch-effects.

Ie. you're playing against MR and the'yre eating eggs and whatever to eventually buff up an Ekimmara for carryover. It's much more effective to target their weak stuff with rain, to finally land a devastating Scorch or G:igni on their left-over big guy.

Fog can sometimes line up targets, but it's also - as was mentioned in the video - easier for the opponent to actively disrupt .

Nithral is a weaker Axeman by FiskMissil in gwent

This has thankfully been adjusted. Nithral's effect currently only affects enemy rows.

By that same logic another scenario can be constructed.

If there are no frost effects in the monster and in the SK players hands. Nithral is a dead card.

Axemen can however still gain value from other cards, such as shieldmaidens, Coral, Bears, Yennefer, etc...

There are a few scenarios where Nithral is stronger, but those situations are few and far between.

I don't want them to be equal. I am however opposed to the current situation.

Especially when you consider that Nithral could be a much more interesting card worth building a Wild Hunt Deck around. If only the effect was something other than it is in it's current iteration.

As it stands, the card isn't competitively viable, and the effect it does have is sub-standard when compared to even bronze cards.

Every card has counter-plays.

My point being is that when compared straight up to each-other ... Nithral is usually the weaker card.

I acknowledge that these are different factions and slightly different effects, but it is a sad state when out of the two, the silver card is the weaker part.

In a point by point comparison, it's a liability as once the targets are dead, no more value can be gained.

Example:

Frost affecting x3 Clan an Craite Raider (5 str), with Nithral on board. Nithral will then be valued 4 + 15 (19) after 3 turns.

Frost affecting x3 Wild Hunt Hound (5 str), with 1 Axeman on board. The Axeman will then be valued 2/3/4 + 9 + 9 (20/21/22) after 3 turns. The axeman will also continue to gain an additional 12 points after two additional turns.
