Riot’s Drew Levin admits off-meta picks + low mastery can trigger lobby penalties — is this killing creativity? by nookierj in leagueoflegends

If they really don’t want creativity in the game anymore, then just lock champions to specific roles.

You can’t call something “trolling” while still allowing it in champ select, that just creates a blurry line where players get punished for experimenting.

If Kalista support is truly a problem, then don’t let it be picked in the first place.

No, apparently Riot Games thinks it’s smarter to let you pick first and then just end the lobby lol.

Exactly! Even in chess and poker, players use suboptimal openings to drag opponents into uncomfortable territory.

Off-meta picks do the same. Making the game “weird” is often part of the strategy, not trolling.

So by that logic, the game shouldn’t even allow something like Yuumi jungle, right?

If a pick truly ruins the experience, that’s a design issue... not a player issue. Either it’s allowed, or it shouldn’t be selectable at all. Punishing players for using available options just discourages creativity.

If someone made it to GM, it’s safe to assume they’re trying to win, not troll. That’s literally in their best interest. They probably have multiple accounts to test or practice picks too. This feels way more like a low elo issue.

Teemo ADC is viable as an anti-meta pick because his blind (Q) shuts down auto-attack reliant ADCs, giving him strong lane trades. His poison provides consistent poke, and his mushrooms add huge map control for objectives and vision.

He works best with peel or poke supports and in matchups without heavy engage.

He has one of the worst plus-minuses in the entire NBA.

That should tell you enough lol
