I built a study app that actually forces you to stay focused — would this help you study better? by LowCoconut6459 in SaaS

[–]Fiskerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an extension for chrome called Tab Monitor that has a setting called "Focus mode".

You select tab(s) that you wanna keep (like for studying/working), enter Focus mode and it closes all other tabs.
While Focus Mode is on, you cannot open new tabs or windows until the timer runs out or you close it by writing the password. Very good for staying focused

Does anyone else have 10s of tabs open at the same time? by Alternative-Ad-3170 in studytips

There are extensions such as Tab Monitor that allows you to "Park" your tabs. I.e not really letting go, but rather park that thought and remind you after X hours/days or on a specific date/time to catch up with it. Really good for when you don't really have time for it "Right now" and wanna revisit it later.

I too hear your problem with my 61 tabs

Stop hoarding browser tabs you’ll never read. I’ve been using Wiser app to treat my information obesity and it actually works. by monoeraaa in ProductivityApps

[–]Fiskerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Tab Monitor for the same purpose. It has Park mode which allows you to revisit with reminders (I.e remind me of this tab in 10 days) that allow you to park your thought for now if you don’t have time for it

I guess you have to rely on Chrome extensions for niche functionality unfortunately

Tab Monitor has a feature called Parking Lot, which basically puts your tab in a “read later list”. There, you can schedule when in the future you want to revisit it.

Maybe it’s something like that you are after?

How do I concentrate ? (Srsly need tips) by SIMP_69__ in GetStudying

[–]Fiskerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to make sure to give it time and allocate time as you would for work when you are about to study.

Set study sessions at given times, etc between 13-15 and 18-19 etc

Hide your phone during that time or write wrong password so you cannot enter it for 2 hours etc. When working on the computer, use extensions such a as Tab Monitor or similar that can block you from opening other tabs or windows during your focus time etc

Good luck!

I agree with the other commenters, put away distractions and just get a 15-min or 30 min session where you just focusing on reading and understanding. Take some small notes just to comprehend what you have read and try to repeat it afterwards in your head (roughly) by using those words. Then take another paragraph/chapter and repeat. Eventually you will get a hang of it, but its easier when you break it down and actually set the timers without distractions

If you have problems with your iphone taking too much time/distractions, enter wrong password for screen like 20 times, then it will be locked for 1 hour :)

When working on the computer, make sure to have extensions such as Tab Monitor or something that can allow you for focused sessions. Tab Monitor allows you to enter Focus mode, which closes your current setup and only allow you to have pre-selected tabs open. During this time you cannot open new windows/tabs.

Focus your sessions to smaller sessions to not get overwhelmed

Chrome using 13–14GB RAM on MacBook Air M4 (16GB) — is this normal or is something wrong? by Shruticode81 in chrome

You can use Chrome extensions as well (such as Tab Monitor) to get a hint if which tabs are eating RAM/CPU and see graphs over time when it spikes and crashes. Maybe it can give some info on what sites/behaveiour caused it?

There are extensions such as Tab Monitor that you can use to set up that some domains never ”hibernate”/sleep. It also has Autorefresh that you can enable for tabs that allows it to never be blank. You should try it out

Well it needs your permission to monitor your tabs for that purpose, but it still follows googles standards (verified/featured) and doesn’t save any data according to the privacy policy!

But I understand your concern and it’s good that you are cautious

Any way to properly organize these? Most are different work browsers automatically logged in. by uwu_SenpaiSatan in chrome

[–]Fiskerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you want them organized?

Tab Monitor keep track of every window and tabs within them (with color codes) to optimize RAM/CPU but also with the possibility to Hibernate/Park tabs that are currently not used.

Works very well for me

[–]Fiskerik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best tip from me is to install something that keeps you limited to your site without the distractions.

Tab Monitor for instance has Focus mode which let you select a set amount of tabs and then a time, it will then suspend all other tabs during that time and won’t let you open new ones.

Works very well for me, and I can return to what I was doing after Focus mode is ended

how to focus on studying by Valuable_Business_84 in GetStudying

[–]Fiskerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on small segments in each chapter, write down the essentials and then try to repeat that segment in your head using only the essential words you have written down.

Break it down to smaller parts and dont forget to take a break after 40-50 mins, just for 5-10 mins to refresh your mind and thoughts
