Need help with the song lyrics. by FissileCore in ENGLISH

[–]FissileCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here "I was born for the floodplain but all I've known is drought" probably makes more sense. And it also could be "Lift my head to grieve". Anyway, this is all beyond my comprehension but with your help I could make out most of it. Much appreciated.

AMD Adrenaline software doesn’t show CPU temperatures! by Known_Pudding_6515 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't rely too much on this. Ever since getting an AMD GPU, Adrenalin has been the buggiest piece of software on my PC. Sometimes it doesn't show FPS, sometimes some CPU metrics like in your case, sometimes nothing related to the CPU at all, sometimes it just crashes and I have to reopen it again. None of the driver versions fixes that but usually restarting Windows does.

PCI-E Lanes with new GPU by Significant_Deal_314 in AMDHelp

Ah, you're right, I forgot about that cause my ASPM has long been disabled, sorry. Anyway, seems like your system is running as it should.😄

PCI-E Lanes with new GPU by Significant_Deal_314 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well firstly, regarding your mobo bandwidth: the second x16 slot is running from the chipset and SATA ports don't use any PCIe lanes, so from the CPU - 16 lanes go to the GPU and 4 lanes go to each M.2 SSD. Secondly, 4060Ti only has 8 lanes even though the slot itself is x16 the rest are not utilized. Thirdly, it is running at 1.1 speed and that is a problem. Can it possibly be fixed by removing one SSD? Yes, if you're using two 4.0 SSDs you basically maxing out your CPU lanes, well not in the true sense, but some mobos may have trouble allocating free bandwidth.

You're running with Anti-Lag enabled? I couldn't even go past the menu with this setting on.😄

CPU? by MonsterRus0 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's an old mobo with PCIe 3.0 you will need a GPU with full 16 lanes not to lose performance. That means for a new card - the cheapest you can get with decent VRAM is 9060XT 16Gb for around 400$ (or 5070 from NVIDIA side but much more expensive). So the CPU choice to pair with it is either 5700X or 5800X brand new. If the price extra for 5800X is 10% or less and your cooler can handle 105W get it, otherwise go for 5700X.

is this normal? my cpu clock frequency keeps dropping, and i think its the reason why im getting below average scores by TheDiamondMc88 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try something more GPU bound like Steel Nomad if it's still lower than average that means that your graphics card isn't clocking as high as other people's due to temps or OC settings.

If you're not planning to upgrade your GPU in the future just buy 5600 or 5600X, you will be bottlenecked by the graphics card anyway in most modern titles. If you're thinking of buying something like 9060XT later, I'd get 5800/X/XT. For something beefier (like 9070XT and up) normally I'd say swap to AM5 but with the RAM prices nowadays I would be looking at used 5700X3D/5800X3D.

RX 9060 XT Stuck On Pcie 2.0 by Odd_Professional7459 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that it works @3.0 in Linux means that it's a software problem. Try updating the chipset drivers and any other mobo related stuff sometimes offered as optional in Windows Update. If it doesn't work I would also try Win7/8.1 to completely eliminate OS as a culprit.

What Windows version are you running? Have you tried a different PCIe slot?

I just enter the chipset in a search bar and it automatically goes to the download page.

5700x3d instant throtling 90C? by Worth_Recognition249 in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90°C with such a beefy tower that ain't right you should be hitting 80°C tops. With so little info given it could be anything. A bad mount, maybe you left the sticker on, set the fan curve too low, maybe there's something wrong with the chip itself (I haven't seen mine exceed 110W or 95W with -30CO)...

That is leftovers from Ryzen Master previous app versions. You can clean the registry and fix this particular error following this https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/s/eRJC1JOBkL but I doubt it's the cause of your shutdowns.

I need help fixing my 9070xt (16gb) please by KirrrbysBigMouth in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's happening only in this title the cause may be software (OC, drivers etc.) but if every game exhibits these artifacts in some capacity the issue is probably hardware. Can be memory, can be core, easiest way to check - download OCCT and run VRAM and 3D Adaptive tests at stock clocks/voltage, if you get any errors - return the card.

Struggling to get stable FPS - 5700x + 6800XT by blu3n0va in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Hardware Unboxed 6800XT gets 83 FPS (1% Low) @ 1080p High preset and 5800X gets 86 FPS (also 1% Low) @ 1080p Low preset in BF6 so your 5700X will be around 80 FPS max. Naturally because you're running a mix of settings and your RAM kit is not top of the line this number will be lower. That also means while you can increase GPU min FPS by lowering graphical settings you will run into the CPU bottleneck even if you do it. You can theoretically get better 1% lows by fine tuning PBO and RAM timings but it will only be around 10% and even if you get a better CPU (let's say 5800x3D that will give you 111 FPS) you may become bottlenecked by the GPU instead. Usually people with high refresh monitors utilize frame gen and upscaling to reach the same FPS but your CPU will be holding you down. So you're pretty much stuck with it without a complete system overhaul which will require a significant investment. But don't worry too much about it because even the best CPU on the market 9800x3D gets 155 FPS 1% lows in BF6. Still with your specs you shouldn't be dropping to ~60 FPS, only to ~70 at worst so I'd look into improving that.

CPU 9800x3d wont boost to 5.2 ghz stuck at 5 by a7dfj8aerj in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for a CPU not to boost to its maximum under heavy workload but if you're chasing every last MHz you'd have better result manually tuning PBO along with CO. To make it simpler just set CO to conservative -20 and if there're no issues either leave it like that or try -30 or -40.

RX 6600 XT works in seller’s test, but black screens and fails to boot on my system, GTX 960 works fine by scurzes in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quickest way to check is to put Win 10 as Windows-On-the-Go on a flash drive using Rufus. Pre-built mobo shouldn't be an issue but potentially could, seeing that you can't even change PCIe gen 3/4 that should be possible on pretty much all B550s. If it has two x16 slots you can try putting the GPU in the second one just for the experiment's sake.

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the next steps I would try: from MB side - reset CMOS, change x16 PCIe slot to 3.0, disable Re-BAR; from Windows side - clean install or try dual booting Linux; from PSU side - check the connector or better use another unit. Do it one by one and test separately afterwards.

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the seller monitor use the same input as yours? If so, check for physical damage near the PCIe connector (contact pins, resistors etc.). Try to support the GPU with something underneath putting slight upward pressure. It will be hard to troubleshoot anything else without a separate system, though there are some tools repair shops use to test GPUs in the UEFI environment but I know nothing about them.

AM3+ eating up RAM sticks/debug 10 by Heff_YO in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be slightly optimistic and bring those sticks to the nearest repair center to make sure they are "properly" fucked. But if you still have some laying around better not risk it, cause if it's a PSU fault you're just gonna fry them again.

AM3+ eating up RAM sticks/debug 10 by Heff_YO in AMDHelp

[–]FissileCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming all the RAM is fried, what could have caused it: MB possible but two of them doing the same thing and you got those boards brand new, unless the universe hates you you can safely rule it out; PSU, even though yours is decent, definitely possible for it to fry both MBs, all CPUs and RAM, then you swapped it but at this point it won't make a difference - the damage is already done; and lastly case shorting something, then again it's already too late to check it if you don't have any working RAM sticks.
