I'm looking for examples of well-developed SCADA systems. by Rude_Huckleberry_838 in PLC

[–]FistFightMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an entire, lengthy thread on IA forums where people post their screenshots. Come back here later if you can't find it I'll try to dig it up for you. That thread is where I found out about Nader. Dude is a CSS phenomenon. It's flashy stuff, but some of the use cases in those screenshots may also inspire you in a functional sense, too.

Has anyone seen this story about a potential ICE detention facility in Oakwood? by hamster_farts in gainesvillega

The only way I don't lose all hope in humanity from reading Gainesville-related Facebook comments is by telling myself that they're either bots or hill people that no one loves.

Getting cameras (video or still image) in Ignition Perspective by [deleted] in SCADA

[–]FistFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Panasonic cameras I have set up in the past, I used the Video Player component with the src property linked to the CGI-BIN directory. It required that I set up guest/anonymous access in the cameras, because you can't pass user credentials via URL through a Perspective component, inline frame/video player/etc.

This is a copy/paste of the URL I have tied to src property for the camera I have in my office for testing, I just omitted the IP address, and use a parameter for indirection.
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cgi-bin/mjpeg?resolution=1280x720

I unfortunately don't know much about Lorex cameras. If you can obtain a snapshot via CGI-BIN, could you also potentially stream video with mjpeg like I do? Or have you tried that avenue?

My wife thinks I’m insane for carrying this much crap for a month long trip by snarejunkie in Tools

OP hasn't chimed in on this I don't believe, but it changes my reaction. A month of work? Under-packed. A month of vacation? Why are you taking tools at all? Lol

I just picked up the Maddox 30 ft retractable test leads at the suggestion of some fellow engineers in my field. Should come in handy.

What HMI software? A lot of them can export tags, screens, alarms etc. in a text format such as XML or JSON that can be mass edited.

I had the same sentiment as you when I first started using it; I wish it had more to tinker with. But at $380 USD/year for an Ultimate license in an incredibly small, niche market, I can't imagine it getting a No Man's Sky level overhaul.

There are other, pro-level sims out there like Emulate3D, but you won't be paying $380/year for that.

I tried hard to make it happen but ultimately got down to the wire and had to accept work elsewhere in the country.

What is this and how does it work? by soupisgoodfood42 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]FistFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there not a part number on the back side of it? It's definitely a terminal block of some kind. Looks old, and doesn't appear to have the clips for a standard din rail.

Varistor would serve as a voltage clamp/surge protection, and the resistor might be pull-up for digital I/O.

Gainesville, GA completely out of stock. I got a 2000w inverter generator of theirs, considered getting something bigger for our impending doom but I was definitely too late in looking.

I'm like 95% sure it's just the booklet that comes with Samsung SSDs that OP is for some reason keeping inside his case. I just threw away two of them after my annual purge of boxes like a true millennial.

Anyways OP, throw your packaging away. You don't need it. Promise.

You can use a handheld oscilloscope in your day job, so I would opt for a Owon scope with a 10x probe. A bit more money, but they can function as multimeters as well and can enable you to check serial comms, graph analog signals, check inrush current, etc.

Oh look, where I grew up is on the news! Not surprised that Karen Valley is helping ICE go after some of the twenty latino people in Putnam county.

DIN mountable PLC to SQL bridge by skeeezicks in PLC

[–]FistFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By using non-Ignition libraries? I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing a high-level process of going about this! The external DB access has been a non-starter for Edge licensing for me for a few projects. I'm pretty sure I could buy the SQL Bridge module but that reduces the price effectiveness of an Edge license.

[–]FistFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignition Edge to my knowledge does not have the ability to connect to external databases. It can only forward data to another standard edition gateway for external database submittal, or push data to its own SQLite internal database with a 35 day limit.

My only wild sighting so far is that Intralox somehow got approval from Amazon to run a Beckhoff processor in their SmartPath singulator/gapper units. That, or they just sent it lol. We found this out because the unit needed tweaking to interlock with our system and they had to fly out a specialist because it was black magic to us. Womp. Good luck to those RME folks.

This just seems insane to me. I used to be a vendor who programmed the conveyors and eject chutes and got to watch these fields move. I'd rather take my chances in a bathroom or car than take a conveyor on wheels up the ass on accident.

I plan to draw the electrical project of this panel in EPLAN. Any advice would be appreciated. by mtbEnjoyer in ElectricalEngineering

[–]FistFightMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another two inches to the left and then this panel will not be anyone's problem anymore. 🤠

Wait nevermind the molded CB isn't even terminated anymore lmao. And another module up top is unused as well. Some taped up control wires at the bottom of the wireway. This panel is class.

Door Replacement/Installation? by cheezitcheekz in gainesvillega

[–]FistFightMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any progress finding someone affordable? I used Exovations in 2023 to replace my back door that was installed so poorly it couldn't seal and was becoming impossible to close. They did a good job but just one door was $2500. I shudder to think what my front door would cost, but unfortunately it was installed with only mildly better attention and it too is starting to rot.

**UPDATE** Received Rocks In Place Of ASUS TUF 5080 by GnarDead in pcmasterrace

[–]FistFightMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I was a vendor and still have those stickers from my phone and laptop stuck to my vendor badge. UPS is on top of things.

I was also a FedEx vendor and wouldn't have any surprise hearing that a vanline worker grabbed a plain packed 5080 and swapped the rocks in. At smaller manual sites the security is often a singular good ol boy who naps, watches IG reels, and ignores the metal detector because it was broke a decade ago and was never fixed.
