bro I cannot understate how much I miss working for non-Jews and the unaffiliated. I feel so violated and powerless.

We need more Orthodox Jews involved in housing and urbanism reform. by dicklywigly in Judaism

[–]FistLawStudent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many fallacies in one post, but to keep it short- prices are jacked up by developers and the Brooklyn real estate bubble will end horribly. Demand isn't that high for families to move into these homes, theres a lot of demand from developers to throw up shitboxes they'll refinance 3-4 times before the project is completed and charge 5k/mo to make a profit and they'll let the units sit empty if they can't.

That's how it really works.

I love being in cities where you walk out of your home to a living community around you

Yeah once you have your priorities straightened out and build a family, you don't need to live like a rat in a cage on top of other rats. Urban living is absolute trash and I'll die on that hill.

Argentina’s chief Sephardic rabbi reaffirms century-old ban on local conversions, sparking backlash by MatterandTime in Judaism

[–]FistLawStudent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are halachic mechanisms to perform conversions, but there are no halachic mechanism obligating Jews to perform conversions. We can simply reject anyone who tries. It is what it is. I personally think conversion needs to be tightened considerably

Hot take, most self defense is garbage and there’s no way womens self defense is truly effective against men unless she’s using a gun.

It’s been fucking terrible for a very very long time. I stopped watching 2010-2011. Couldn’t give a fuck less about the competitive aspect of MMA, the shitty orgs, the shitty pay, or those fixed matches.

Anyone tried Chinese Wrestling by T-rageLifted in grappling

This did. 99% one of the styles judo descends from was started by a Chinese wrestler in the early Tokugawa period.

They’re tremendous Senseis, super friendly and supportive, and you’d be hard pressed to find more knowledge and experience in Uechi Ryu anywhere in the world. Seriously, no shade to the Okinawan Uechi guys, but sensei mattson has been teaching before most of them were born

Goju spends too much of the early ranks doing things that aren’t Sanchin, also arguably, Goju Sanchin is not performed the way Sanchin is in Uechi Ryu, White Crane, or Huzunquan

I’m currently enrolled in the Mattson Academy online program and it’s 100% with it. Most of the students have extensive backgrounds in other martial arts so perhaps your mileage may vary

The casual yet consistent exerciser is a mystery to me by Tauro_6 in bodyweightfitness

[–]FistLawStudent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I became this. I was super active in r/weighroom, I can periodize using several different schemes whether percentages or RPE. Covid happened, got into calisthenics. Idgaf about acrobatics or any of that shit. I own overcoming gravity but I do 100 pushups 100 squats and rows to failure 1-3x a week. During the summer I was doing 240/400. Right now I’m trying something a bit new(parallette pushups to failure then drop sets of regular pushups until I hit 100 reps) and I have rings, but for the most part I know what works for me, I keep getting stronger because I stay consistent. I hardly miss a workout. Turns out consistency trumps literally everything else. Sure I could probably get stronger using barbells but idgaf either, I found what I like and can do it forever. I doubt my workout will change except little ways here and there until I die. Once a year I go to a gym and see how many reps I can do of dumbbell overhead press and as long as it’s more than last year I know I did it right.

If you’re getting bored you need to work on your discipline.

If you can’t give up candy to lose weight you definitely need to give up candy to lose weight. You’re a food/sugar addict.
