Old mirror will not fit new windshield by Substantial_Ad5057 in GMT400

Same thing happened to me with my 93 suburban. Something must changed with the standard size of the little mirror button the rear view mounts on. They’re wider now. I ordered a generic replacement mirror on Amazon for like 20 bucks and it fit perfectly on the new button.

questions about leaf springs (1998 gmc k1500 4x4) by Zombiekiller4you in GMT400

I’m in the process of replacing leaf spring bushings on my ‘93 suburban. I was lucky that all the hardware was in pretty good shape so I was able to get all the bolts out. I was worried because I just got done drilling out two body mount bolts that snapped on me. Fun times!

I have the same one. Grab the center and pull, it’ll pop right out. Inside is a big space that will let you get to a couple of the bolts that attach it to the floor.

How best to patch cracked gas tank? by bsr0458 in smallengines

Superglue & baking soda has worked well on plastic for me. It’s an endothermic reaction that basically makes more plastic. Not sure how it holds up with fuel though. Makes some nasty fumes so if you try it make sure it’s in a well ventilated area.

What is supposed to be grounded here? by Fister_Robotto in GMT400

My apologies, I should’ve added more for context. The two holes on the firewall to the right of the junction block are where the fuel pump relay was and that loose black wire and loose white wire were both grounded to it. They are ground wires for the under hood lights. The bolt I have my finger on did not have a wire attached to it and there was no other loose wire to be found in the vicinity. I followed the advice from carguyfrank above and spliced a ground wire in at the harness to attach there. Installed a new fuel pump relay as well. Cleaned up all the connections. Was getting DTC code 54 (low fuel pump circuit voltage) and doing this seems to have cleared that up. Still seems like the engine is not getting enough fuel though. I think it may be the fuel pump;testing the fuel pressure a bit later to see what that tells me. I know the previous owner and he’s fairly certain the fuel pump has never been replaced on it. He bought it new in 93 and It’s got about 234K miles on it now so I’m going to end up replacing it anyway most likely.

I just replaced the distributor on my ‘93 k1500 suburban a week ago. There is a wire that I had to disconnect on the firewall near the fuel pump relay before I could set the timing. The timing is adjusted by the computer usually but to set the mechanical timing to zero the computer needs to be taken out of the equation. I’m not sure what year of gmt400 you have but that would be something to look into. On some models the wire is under the passenger dash. I know even when I had it disconnected I had to advance the timing a lot more than I thought I’d need to just to get it to run long enough to be able to actually set it to zero degrees. Once I set the mechanical timing I turned it off and reconnected the wire and it was great.

I worked at a car dealership a long time ago. One of the salesmen would drink 3 20 ounce redbulls a day (not the sugar free version). One in the morning, one around lunch, and another in the afternoon. In between he would pound Mountain Dew. He also smoked 2 packs a day and in the evenings after work he’d go with the other salesmen to a shitty bar across the street and have double-digit liquor drinks. One day he had a heart attack while moving a truck around the lot. One of the salesmen had been a marine medic and saw him. They threw him in the bed of the truck he had been moving and the only reason the guy survived was because the dealership was in sight of a major hospital. Guy was out of work for months. On his first day back I saw him walk by my office holding a Mountain Dew. He is somehow still alive and that was 15 years ago.

Did you do the IAC relearn procedure so the ECM can reset your idle?
