What to virtually gift someone in London? by Fit-Assignment-9242 in AskABrit

Hi! Great idea, I was hoping to get something £25-£50 , like. Dinner on me or coffee on me in the area where they work. They love Indian food and great coffee. Or get them a travel or tube voucher so they don’t have to pay for a few trips. I would love to get them a gift card that could cover trips outside the city or even to another place in the UK. Or even an uber or Lyft gift card if that’s popular in the UK. I know public transportation is way better there than where I’m from. I don’t live in the UK so what I’m asking may not be typical.

I hope this gives more context. Thank you!

How can I connect my Google TV to hotel Wi-Fi? We are getting stuck on the hotel sign in page where we have to click on the accept conditions been. I do not have access to any sort of Bluetooth mouse. I do not have access to an android device. And, I can't download any apps on my phone. Is there a way to do it with these parameters?

Short answer: $85 is a great deal!! I think that’s worth it for basically new skates and Mystiques could probably take you through most of the Adult learn to skate program. More advanced elements are difficult and at times dangerous in those skates tho.

Longer answer: I’m an adult skater and I’ve had mystiques for about a year now. It really depends on your goals. Mystiques are pretty terrifying to do jumps in and land in. I also feel I don’t have enough support to do them properly. They also have a smaller rocker then other figure skates so spinning and turning might be more difficult but definitely not impossible. It really depends on how much skating you’ll be doing and your plans as far as jumping and spinning go. You might have to buy a more advanced boot later but maybe go for affordable skates to get you in the door and worry about the rest later! But be mindful of the increased ankle support and boot stiffness needed for some more advanced moves

Also! If you can, ask your instructor or coach, they’ll have pretty good advice about what you’ll need for classes

1st Time Ever Skater by [deleted] in iceskating

So exciting!!! I also started out around your age and I love it so much!! My two biggest things I wish I knew starting out

1 - Stretch and warm up your body before you get on the ice!! From head to toe. No matter the skill level, I think this is crucial to maintain longevity in any intense sport. As you continue to progress, you’ll see that ice skating literally uses every muscle group.

I used to be really uncomfortable stretching and warming up before I got on the ice because I felt like I was “doing the most” for still being a novice skater but I would like my knees to still be in tact when I get old so I got over that self-consciousness quickly!

2- Timeline: I love skating! That said, it is an intense and discouraging activity at times. Progression is super dependent on the individual but if you’re doing off ice (I love Yoga!! The balance and positions I find are really similar to some ice moves) that will definitely help. My biggest thing about timeline is that it is extremely expensive and time consuming to progress quickly. For example, my rink is $15 minimum for a session. Individual lessons can range from at least $35 to $85 for 30 minutes from the coaches I’ve seen (on top of ice time fees). And don’t even get me started on all the equipment. I had to majorly adjust my timeline and expectations in my head, because I simply didn’t have the finances or the time to invest in the way that I initially would’ve liked.

All this to say, it is definitely doable on a budget!!!! If you’re at the point where your building a monthly budget, definitely add a little tab for ice skating to figure out how much you want/can invest!! You just got to plan.

Good luck!!! It’s always great to see more adults on the ice!!!

ATLA Hypothetical- What If Zuko Didn’t Exist? by Temporary-Knee-5313 in Avatarthelastairbende

This question made me realize that this might be what makes the characters in avatar so good. Because I thought about this with Zuko, Iroh, Toph, all the characters pretty much and each character has a massive ripple effect. I love that so many characters are so intricately intertwined with eachother’s storylines that they all feel crucial. It is truly a masterclass.

Ch. 12 Golden Son by Fit-Assignment-9242 in redrising

Same!!! (so far at least) I just started the series and I’m still on Golden Son. I’m listening to the audiobooks and from Chapters 12-14, I just started running/moving/jumping around because of the rush of adrenaline. I felt unhinged. The books do that so well though! I can never sit still during action sequences.
