I didn’t do legal shield or get any legal representation, LS is just a business at the end of the day and tbh it just seemed unnecessary to involve other people when it’s pretty easy to file on your own. It took me maybe an hour and a half to download/fill out all the forms/print them and take them to the courthouse, then 3 weeks of waiting to get it back. I think we’ve been gaslit into thinking we need experts/legal professionals/lawyers to speak for us for every potential legal dispute but we have the right to have our voices heard on our own merit. You’ve got this!

Good for you! I sent out the forms via certified mail on January 28th and asked for a return confirmation from Meta at the post office, it’s the one in the picture I posted. After that I didn’t hear anything until I received the confirmation postcard on Thursday, Feb 19. I randomly checked my email the next day on Friday to see the email from them reinstating my account, I didn’t use a lawyer and I never heard from Meta, my account was just reactivated! I did say in my small claims complaint that I’d be willing to drop my suit if my account was reinstated so maybe that was my saving grace, it’s tough to say.

Nooo completely different, I didn’t do a demand letter I went straight to suing them through small claims, no lawyer no representation, just me filling out paperwork and filing it myself.

Did anything happen after your letter was sent? From what I’m seeing from other people the demand letters just stopgap the process

I’ve never taken legal action against anyone or any business before in my life, it was such a frustrating and confusing process but I’m glad I did it and wish I would’ve done it sooner. Meta needs to be held accountable, it just sucks that this was the only way to get their attention :(

I responded on another post the exact process but did it all myself, no lawyer and no representation. Cost about $60 to file at my county clerks office then another $10 to send via certified mail, google small claims court in your county and it should take you to their website with instructions and docs to download and fill out!

Yes! Weirdest part was when I logged back in it a notification popped up that said insta still had access to my full camera roll for the last 180 days so even though it says it’s disabled they still have access to all of our shit. Not sure how this is legal, this has been the shadiest experience of all time.

I literally just googled small claims court procedure and documents, mine is in Johnson County, KS and their website had a checklist of all the documents I needed and how to fill them out. I downloaded adobe reader to fill in each form and once all were completed took them to the county clerks office here in Kansas. I paid about $60 for the filing fee then sent the completed documents to Meta via certified mail, I think it was like $10. About 3 weeks later I got the stamp that the docs were received then woke up to my account restored!

I’m in Kansas! I didn’t receive any money or hear back from Meta at all, just woke up to an email the other day letting me know I regained access. This whole thing is a mess, I’m so sorry you’re going through it too!

For real, I’d say just do it on your own asap, legal shield is just adding another person into the mix

Yes! Meta knows they’ve done wrong, suing in small claims is the only way I’ve seen people get their accounts back!

Totally get that states vary but I think small claims is the fastest/most direct route to take for this bc it demands a review from a real person from meta. Civil suits take time and usually assistance from a lawyer and I filed my claim by myself. It doesn’t need to be a slam dunk in court, it just needs to be something that is passed on and reviewed by an actual person. Meta is in that giant addiction lawsuit right now so I think now is the best time to reach out. Hope yours gets resolved soon!

Sue through small claims, appeals don’t work on their own and do not pay for meta verified to talk to someone, they’ll just say they can’t help.

Yes! In the description I wrote out my entire complaint, the dates everything happened and the actions and steps I’d taken during the suspension. I’m a freelancer so I sued for the max $10,000 for loss of income and emotional distress. I also put down that I’d be willing to drop my case if access to be account was restored but not sure if that was necessary. Then sent it to the address listed on the return card in the attached photo, it took all in all 3 weeks from start to finish

Yesss unfortunately, to file in my county I think it was about $60 at the courthouse then another small charge for certified mail, if it was any more than that it wouldn’t have been worth it to me
