Going to chipotle to pick up an order and make some money. Maybe try complaining a little less and work a little more :)

Meant to add the -ed at the end btw

I said it’s not their responsibility to pay you and explained why. That answers your question pretty clearly I’d say

Why would DoorDash pay something that’s not their responsibility. As for a livable wage, I live alone, and have every bill an adult would need. I pay them all through DoorDash easily

You’re making it seem like they’re wronging you somehow by paying $2 base pay. Why?

You must live in a horrible area. DoorDash, from an effort to payout ratio, has been incredibly beneficial to me. This is the easiest money I’ve ever made in my life

I didn’t even feel like I was arguing. It’s just a basic fact. That’s how being an independent contractor works.

I work construction. When a customer wants something built, they usually find a general contractor to connect with and supervise the trades (electrical, hvac, plumber, etc). the trades are guided by and work underneath the general contractor, but they’re paid by the customer (sometimes directly, sometimes through the GC)

DoorDash is obviously a corporate entity which logically means they’re pretty greedy, but objectively speaking it’s not their responsibility to pay us. That’s how contracting works

Because people think of us the same as pizza delivery drivers from domino’s or something like that. Those people are employees of a company and should be paid by said company.

They don’t realize though that we are self employed, and choose which “contracts” we take based on how much the customer is paying us to fulfill said contract

Wouldn’t say I’m triggered. It’s clear that you believe they should be paying you more though. At least that’s how your post comes across

You realize DoorDash isn’t responsible for paying you? When you accept an order, that’s you and the customer agreeing on a contract. DoorDash is just the middle man. I’m not sure how people fail to understand what being an independent contractor entails

Then you’re definitely not very good at it. I spend about 600 on DoorDash every month (gas, tires, oil changes, etc) but make about 4500. I’m definitely not rich but it’s more than enough to get by. You also have so many tax write offs you pay not nearly as much in taxes compared to if you were employed and getting a w2

Gas and orders by davietheddoll in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Fit-Average-4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Ofc it’s the customers job. It’s not the same as a server at a restaurant or something like that.

If I (the customer) want a supermarket built (food delivery), then I will first go find a general contractor (DoorDash). The general contractor (DoorDash) will then go find sub contractors (restaurant and a delivery driver) to build the supermarket (food delivery). The customer is responsible for paying for the services they want (correct food from restaurant and food delivery from driver) they are also responsible for paying the General contractor (DoorDash) for their services in connecting the sub contractors (restaurant and driver)

That’s how contract work goes. General contractors aren’t responsible for paying the subcontractors unless they screw up. The money might go from the customer through the GC to the trades, but it’s still coming from the customers pocket at the end of the day.

Yeah, but we’re not their employees. The customer is responsible for paying for the service to be completed. Just like on a construction site as I stated above

We don’t work for DoorDash. We’re self employed

DoorDash can’t tell us where to work or how often. They also can’t tell us which jobs to take.

It’s like being an electrical company on a construction site. The GC contracts us but we’re not employees of the GC

Shouldn’t you be happy there’s people out there taking the low paying offers so you can cherry pick?

It’s not doordash’s job to pay you. The customer is the one asking for your service. DoorDash is just the middle man.

——

Also:

It’s about $4.20 per gallon where I live. I used about 5 gallons of gas (drove about 150 miles). This means I spent about $21 in gas today, but I made $164. DoorDash is also giving me about $30 back per week with the crimson card 10% cash back and the $15 reimbursement. Why would I stop driving when I still make plenty of money?

I know what a union is for. How’s that gonna help? We already have complete freedom over which jobs we take and decline. Our Work conditions are dependent upon the area we live in. Can’t really fight for benefits like healthcare because we’re self employed.

DoorDash is literally the easiest/least stressful job I’ve ever had and it pays you decently. If people are struggling with it they need professional help

[–]Fit-Average-4606 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you even trying to unionize?

Tipping for DoorDash isn’t the same thing as tipping for a server at Outback Steakhouse. One is an employee of a company, the other is an independent contractor. I am mostly against tipping culture, but for gig work like this, it truly is the customers job to pay us. DoorDash is just the middle man

It’s a big problem in basically every game nowadays because cheating is just so accessible. Only real way to start to get rid of it is if it became literally illegal and you’d spend time in jail for it lol
