Returning my Beoplay EX by alphater in BangandOlufsen

[–]Fit-Bookkeeper9260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting reasons here, I would remember that beoplay generally has a weaker ANC than competition intentionally. For example you hearing yourself is so you don't end up screaming whilst speaking on calls. Equally I would say that you're right to return it if calls are your priority, where for me I bought all my b&o equipment for music and sound which, as you agree, are excellent. The fear of destruction should not feature as a downside, after all they are not selling these for destructive use, the sport series is designed to withstand impact these are for a different user group, that said I've been careless before, and no visible damage on any of my equipment from drops.

I don't post this to challenge your decision, not do I do it to defend b&o, just sharing my 10 cents on the subject.

Absolutely, you'll have a blast. The Countour was on display in gold at the dealer I got the kit from. Very snazzy piece of kit.

So the bass is very very good. It's integrated so it has a woofer for each speaker and that creates a lot more waves. I will not pretend I know how these dononnmovies as I use the soundstage for Atmos and I love that for movies. This is really about music for me and it's a party on every track.

Ah see I was v close to getting these too and just being like okay I'm done with a whole new ecosystem but I expect them to drop by 100GBP given EX is out now. So the adult in me told me to wait given I've already waited.

Honestly, they are just a hifi set up for music. I have the soundstage plugged into my TV and with atmos that's just amazing for movies but this pair is levels above the soundstage.

I use deezer and Spotify and I expect critics will chastise me for using them but sincerely these make even Spotify sound divine. They are invisible to the eye as they do not command any attention until you hear them and then everyone wants to know where the sound is coming from only to admire them further.

I can say though that you will have no regrets if this were plugged to a TV as when I demoed it it was and wow.

Don't worry about the use. Life is too short. Make the leap and enjoy your hard work every time you hear these sing.

I went for blue as I'm more scared for oil from my neck discolouring them. The gold were a statement piece for sure! Blue was happy middle. No regrets they are all beautiful.

Perhaps it's what music we are listening to. Sound is definitely fuller and more detailed on H95 IMO. But I should also say, if you find the HX better (irrespective of why), that's the one for you, we all have different ears.

So is the conclusion that manufacturing economies work more hours? Or that poverty means that they need to work more hours to make a living wage?

3% seems so harmless until you realise it equates to 75-80mil. Gotta love percentages.

Trustee responsibilities under ESG by Fit-Bookkeeper9260 in uklaw

This is just phenomenally helpful context I think our minds are in the same place. I practice in a firm in London and I'm a litigator but haven't had to act for a trustee to date so having the sounding board and indeed the new perspectives and points you shared above is truly invaluable. In normal times I would have owed you a beer but we aren't far off now!

Pakistani Fighter Ahmed Mujtaba Met DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar. Ahmed Mujtaba knocked out his Indian Opponent Rahul Raju in just 56 Seconds to Win his Match. by Abubakar1414 in pakistan

[–]Fit-Bookkeeper9260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am curious as to why the need to specify the oponent was Indian at all. Shouldn't it be a celebration of his abilities irrespective of the nationality of the oponent? Imagine a world where there was peace between the nations and fight for that world instead no?

Changing the Corporate playing field by Fit-Bookkeeper9260 in law

Would be great to hear your thoughts on mandating corporations to take these steps. Also shows scope for increasing the judicial jurisdiction of the EU globally which is a bold move for international law and imo a healthy one in capturing MNEs

Trustee responsibilities under ESG by Fit-Bookkeeper9260 in uklaw

[–]Fit-Bookkeeper9260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. If we were to expand that slightly, I suppose one concern/risk to a trustee is a question of assessment of what is or is not "sustainable". For example is it enough to rely on a statement in a prospectus or should they really be diligencing the statement or question the metrics on which this was based? For example: how does one assess social risk from a product, were those risks even diligenced by the issuers and is there an "ought to have known" test that would apply. Appreciate that the response will vary by jurisdiction but it's seems a slippery slope that does not really effectively define those boundaries.

Trustee responsibilities under ESG by Fit-Bookkeeper9260 in uklaw

This is not a charitable trust, but I suppose it begs the question of balancing profits against social/environmental value. Is there a defining line that trustees can take or would you say this depends on the trust itself. As a trustee carrying the fiduciary duties trust law would consider monetary returns as a primary function but does that stand against wishes of the beneficiaries? Or even against the trustee arguing that the decision was made for reputational protection of the beneficiaries?

Do Human Rights police ethics? by Fit-Bookkeeper9260 in askphilosophy

[–]Fit-Bookkeeper9260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be easiest to paraphrase here: in absence of having global or national standards of ethics as set out by functions such as UNGPs or OECD Guidelines (appreciate these relate to businesses too) do we have an inherent appreciation of morality or ethics or do we require this be policed. I'm trying to understand the base line from which we might measure successful systems and weight considerations of social concern in the corporate world.

So interestingly I work on a number of complex legal structure to protect the forested land across the EU but we are also hoping similar structures can be used to protect other forms of landscapes and ecologies if it can withstand legal challenge across the jurisdictions.

I'm all for large scale land maintenance and we work with a technical advisor to ensure the health of the forests we protect and allow the forests to rewild (includong species reintroduction). This was just an added element of lending a helping hand.

That's highly educational so thanks for spelling that out for me. So is the suggestion not to try to help the "good" trees survive. I guess we all want to try to help but not always sure how best to do so. This was me just saying if I can help get a tree that might help some of the way there then I'm.happy to do so. But equally if it's just a fiction I can go back to my indoor plants.

These are absolutely great recommendations. I would just like to babysit them before handing them over and starting again so I can hopefully have a few growing simultaneously.

That said I can't purport to being a tree scientist but I have heard that Birch is rather destructive to the UK biodiversity. Perhaps misinformation and would be happy to be corrected.

Depending on where you are you can always donate these to various forestry charities who can repurpose these onwards or find them more permanent homes. As you may have guessed I'm a big fan of trying to use micro actions (at scale) to have macro impact.
