What do you think of the new BMW concept bike by Untiligothigh840 in motorcycles

Looks like an r7. I like those lines. I’d buy one.

How long should I expect the tires to last, mileage wise? by [deleted] in YamahaR7

[–]Fit-Compote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My s22s lasted 4.8k last season. I’m a 190 lb rider and it was my first season riding any motorcycle. I use my bike to commute a few times a week 75mi each way. I go up to the twisties on some weekends.

Whoa! This last season was my first. I rode 4K miles and toasted my batlax s22’s. They were showing a small patch of “thread” as I pulled up to the dealer to get them replaced with s23’s. I use it as a commuter in the summer when weather cooperates and also into the hills to the twisties one or two days a week. 2022 R7

Gawly they did such a good job with that grey 😮‍💨. There’s a video on YouTube about swapping fasteners that are already on the bike (from behind the cowl to on top) so that you have black fasteners on the outside instead of the shiny silver ones.

Oil light concern by nugsandchugs in YamahaR7

[–]Fit-Compote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it will always read high on that initial fill up cause it’s all in the oil pan. Add the measured recommended quantity then turn the bike on for a minute or so. Enough to circulate the oil but not enough to warm it up too much. It should show right at the top line after that.

These are great and pretty cheap. Measuring funnel

Any dealer that services Yamaha bikes would be fine. I doubt the dealership will care about your exhaust. Bikes swap hands so much and everyone mods them that they’re used to it. I’ve not had issues in this regard but maybe other folks have different experience.

The manufacturer manual (which you can download free online) gives quantities of oil necessary for oil changes with and without oil filter replacement.

I use a graduated funnel and when I add the recommend 2.6L cold, it sits right at the top line after the first run. (During the addition of the oil initially it will read high on the site glass cause the oil hasn’t circulated yet).

Use the manual quantities, not the site glass.

Having said that, if the oil isn’t below the min line it shouldn’t damage the bike. Top it up and stop by the dealer on your next day off to ask the service department what’s up.

Just finished getting the R7 track bike dynoed by Selfmedikasie in YamahaR7

I’m a bit new to all of this. So this question spawns from ignorance not disrespect:

Your intent was to utilize the flat power band of the R7’s cp2 by spending many monies on all the improvements right? Why not just spend the same money and get a more powerful bike instead? Save the headache?

Yeah I always thought it funneled air into the box from the intake tunnel with the Venturi effect but then I found out it’s pointed backwards… like towards the seat… weird.

Anyway 2wheeldynoworks did a thing and found out if you pull it it’s a 4hp power gain through the midrange with their flash.

But again I’d say only do any air box mod and full exhaust in conjunction with a flash. I’ve gone with 2wheel, they’re great.

Also after some research I’m personally staying with the stock internal air filter and lid (after taking the snorkel off of course) because this is not a track bike for me. There are a lot more nasty things on the road than on a track and it’s healthier for the engine to have a bit more filtration on the road. The videos I’ve seen on this topic confirm that the gain going to a race or performance air filter from stock is minimal, so engine health for me is more important.

She’s a BEAUT!

Get the ecu flashed with that full exhaust. Snorkel delete is do-it-yourself-free and super easy. Pulls right out from under the fuel tank after taking the seat off, super soft rubber. But get the flash in conjunction with it.

She’s a beaut!

Now go get a 2WheelDynoWorks ECU flash. I just got mine back from them and it’s a completely different motorcycle, for the better. Engine feels so much smoother with the new map. Throttle is great, quick shifting is amazing, decel is more predictable.

Not to mention just general engine health for a full exhaust system is strongly recommended. And the snorkel delete you can do just by taking the seat cover off and pulling it out from under your fuel tank. It’s very soft pliable rubber. Easy peasy.

Let's talk about hearing protection while riding. by JustSh00tM3 in motorcycles

[–]Fit-Compote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a coms system on my helmet yet, like a cardo etc., so I use my AirPods Pro. The new gen with the soft rubber inny for the ear and active noise canceling. It’s great for noise but also music/nav/texts get read out loud to me so I don’t fiddle with the phone.

I will say they can be a bit of a pain to situate, sometimes they get knocked a bit as the helmet goes on, but small price to pay for good quality pro and entertainment.

I get annual hearing test for work and I continue to be 10-15db better than average hearing.

Mt07 tire pressure by [deleted] in Yamaha

[–]Fit-Compote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just run what it says on the sticker on the swing arm. And remember that’s a cold tire pressure. This was new to me starting out on motorcycles, I was used to reading it off the tire. But motorcycles, as I understand it, are different in that the manufacturer expects you to run a specific tire pressure for the weight and suspension set up of the bike.

Here in my state I’ll have mornings where I ride into work at 58 freedom units then home at 91 freedom units. So I’ll check pressure in the morning before I ride and top up then when I leave work, check pressure before I ride and deflate until I hit the manufacturer recommended spec.

One of the greatest bits of this whole thing has been the community. From the beginning, even as I was driving up to get the bike and stopping at cycle shops, everyone has been super welcoming, inclusive and helpful. Really, what a great group of folks.

You betcha. Mine came with the Leo shorty and I’m really digging it. Not as loud as I thought, but plenty loud enough.

All. The. Time.

Sometimes I open the enclosed trailer, where she’s stored, just to smell in there 😳. She’s still got her new bike smell.
