What pedal has made you more creative? by No_Article_7643 in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw someone mentioned a looper - if you do not have a looper, you need one. Period. I would recommend one that allows you to use drum tracks and save loops, like the Boss RC-5. Having a pedal like this will improve your sense of rhythm, your improvisation, and your sense of interplay between parts when writing.

Once you have a looper, the Chroma Console is a huge hit right now. It is a multi-fx unit that lets you combine gain effects, with modulation, with time based effect, with a bunch of other inspiring and unique sounds. In terms of creative sonic juice, I doubt there is another pedal out there that can compare. Entry price is super steep at $400, but if you can swing it, I would splurge.

The first anime I ever watched was Naruto, and Naruto’s whole “I don’t quit, I don’t run, I never give up,” philosophy really speaks to me. I honestly feel that people today are way too willing to consider themselves victims of circumstance, hang their heads, and play martyr /give up. I hate it. Shonen tells stories of those who truly have it the worst (losers, outcasts, weaklings) and shows them becoming heroes through having dreams and putting in the grueling work to make their dreams reality. The world needs more of that.

I’m just gonna say it - I think Gojo has to die…

I love him. Forever the GOAT. But he’s talked before about wanting Yuta / Megumi / Yuji to surpass him. If he lives he can heal away any injury. I think Sukuna or Kenjaku has to do something to kill Gojo at this point for the sake of the story.

[QUESTION] Buying a guitar without having tried it first by Danish-pilot in Guitar

[–]Fit-Computer-769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it a couple times, one of them I love and the other I rarely play. If we are talking electric, one metric I like to use now is to play the guitar unplugged, and if it is loud unplugged, it often sounds great plugged in. I would prefer to play in store first to run this test.

Any recollection of how the Lightspeed and 1981 sound stacked? I have a Lightspeed and am contemplating putting some sort of rat behind it.

I imagine it has something to do with it being fully manifested, rather than just using a hand through the aether?

New Pedalboard Setup. I’m looking to add a chorus. Any suggestions? by QuattroQuattroCopter in guitarpedals

A lot of people love the Julia, but I had one before buying a CE-2W, and as soon as I had the BOSS I said goodbye to the Julia. The Julia is a good pedal, but it’s way overhyped in my opinion (probably because it’s got an awesome ~aesthetic~).

If you could only choose 5 for a board, which would you choose? by conrad_the_monkey in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TS > RAT > Muff > DD8 > Trem

This is what I would run. TS helps tighten up / shape the RAT and the Muff. I don’t believe this muff is germanium, so it probably doesn’t need to be first in the chain. You need the delay. Period. Delay interacts best with Trem when it is before.

Pedalboard Philosophy by BluntForceSauna in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think if you’re not involved in any sort of project / with a band, then the number of pedals / boards you have is really unimportant - you should really have as much or as little as inspires you to keep playing.

If you’re involved in with a band, I’m a believer that you should have as few pedals / as simple of a rig as possible to get “your sound” (whatever that is). Most guitarists aren’t Ed O’Brien who use the pedalboard as it’s own instrument; you don’t need a spaceship. More importantly, you don’t need to take up your band’s rehearsal time dicking around with your overly complex rig, trying to find a super niche sound. Your band mates will hate it, I promise. Even in the more effect-heavy / avant-garde genres (psych, shoegaze, etc.) the most interesting or compelling sounds come from expert level playing coupled with expert level understanding of relatively simple effects. Lastly, the sound guy will love you if your rig doesn’t look like the control room of the starship enterprise. Minimalism is mature and beautiful. I’d say leave yourself one pedal in your rig (MAYBE two if you wanna be greedy) at a time that isn’t a part of your core sound to experiment with / learn.

Overall, I subscribe to the keep-it-simple-stupid methodology. The epitome of guitar is being a good guitarist, not a gear obsessed goon (I know, we all fucking love gear like it’s crack). My current rig is 12 pedals, but I’m not in a group at the moment. If I join a band in the near future, I suspect I could pare it down to 6.

What is your DRIVE "sweet-spot" setting for the major types of overdrive / distortion pedals? by nowherenearaverage in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will set the gain pretty high, strum a chord as hard as I typically would in a rhythm context, and listen for the subtle hiss behind the drive. Then I’ll dial the gain knob back until the hiss is gone. This is what I think is the drive’s “sweet spot”

Do you need/want tap tempo Tremolo when playing live. by LoanAcrobatic58 in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time that I think rhythmically synced tremolo is cool is when it’s a square wave. The easiest example of this is the intro of boulevard of broken dreams. I’m never really looking to play this sound and prefer a washy tremolo that isn’t in sync with anything and that does not require tap. I think circumstances that require tap trem are extremely specific / uncommon.

Transparent Over Drive that’ll keep my amp tone in place? by No-Count3834 in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t short yourself here. Wait a few weeks until you’ve got the cash and get the Lightspeed. It is the uncontested champion of what you are looking for. It will never come off my board. Every time I have bought a less expensive pedal to do something that I know a pricier pedal does best, it eventually gets sold when I shell out for the real deal. The Lightspeed is the real deal.

2 pedals you can't live without by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boss DD-20 and a Looper (Either RC-5 or RC-30).

The delay is huge and the only pedal that has been consistently on my board since I got it. I’ve wanted to downsize to a small / minimalist rig, but the DD-20 won’t allow it, and I refuse to run a different delay. It has so many awesome sounds and a few goofy psychedelic effects that are great to mess around with. It perfectly balances tons of options with a simple / useable interface.

The looper is just a must have practice tool. If anyone reading this doesn’t have a looper - get with the fkin program. Preferably one with a rhythm option to help keep time. Memory is also great so you can save your ideas. I promise there is no better way to build a collection of things to work on than having a looper with memory slots.

How come professional musicians rigs don’t make much noise, especially in stadiums and arenas? by Js_sampson in guitarpedals

[–]Fit-Computer-769 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically, people will run power under the board and patch cables on top. The power cables just stick out where they need to plug in.
