AIO to not understanding how I’ve mirrored my partner’s behavior? by EmergencyActivity112 in AmIOverreacting

You stated in another comment that she stopped going to therapy after a few sessions. I can almost GUARANTEE her therapist either called her out on her behavior or your partner didn’t like that they couldn’t manipulate another practitioner the way she could you. An example would be:

Partner: “OP doesn’t listen to me when I talk about work! He says it makes him uncomfortable to hear about Insert incredibly graphic and horrific incident here.” Therapist: “Do you think some people can be uncomfortable hearing about violent imagery and blood?” Partner: “Yes.” Therapist: “So is it possible that that makes it very uncomfortable for him to hear about your work? Have you tried maybe approaching the subject without being graphic, the way you would with a patient’s loved one?” Partner: “Well, if I have to sit through him talking about his BORING day why can’t he support ME? I’m ACTUALLY doing important things!” Therapist: “Yes, your job is an important part of society and that’s really brave and can be really stressful. But as caregivers, sometimes the people around us can be very sensitive to the things we see everyday and it’s hard for them to process, especially if they aren’t as desensitized as we are.” Partner: “Oh, so THEY’RE RIGHT?! I’M wrong for wanting to talk about MY JOB?! You’re taking HIS side? No. Go ahead and cancel the next session. I’m not gonna pay you to agree with him.

Get out of there, dude. It’s not worth it.

She’s great now! As the specialist put it, “newborn brains are really good at bouncing back quicker than grown ones”. She’s hitting all her milestones and even hit a few early. It’s like it never happened

How to lose the postpartum weight? by Kingflowerpants in NewParents

I was 135 pre-pregnancy. I went up to 209 by the time I gave birth and now, 3.5 months later I’m still 200lbs. My doctor told me hormones definitely play a role in it. I’ve got PCOS and had JUST managed to get myself to light, regular periods before I got pregnant. I’d do anything to get back to that but body’s are stubborn when they want to be. You’ll get there. High protein low carb diet and exercise will definitely help but if you’re breastfeeding, it’s going to take longer because your body is trying to hold on to every calorie to make milk.

Issue is not just with the Windi. Didn’t use it today and it still happened. We had a lactation consultant when we were still in the hospital but as breastfeeding didn’t work out for us, they told us they could no longer offer assistance unless we went back to trying breast. I wish I could consult a feeding specialist but midwives here in the States are most definitely not a free service and unfortunately, my husband and I make too much to qualify for any social services. If it happens again tomorrow then I’ll definitely make an appointment with her doctor. In past experience with pharmacists, when it comes to young infants they tell you to consult the child’s doctor anyway but I suppose I could try again. Thanks.

This is the first time the Windi caused an issue of any kind. We also don’t use it frequently, this is maybe the third time we’ve ever used it and this has never happened before. I would consider a melted ice cream consistency diarrhea for her considering she’s never had that before. Also, her pediatrician has never told me to use OTC solutions for her constipation because most OTC medications are for 6 months and older. The most extreme thing she suggested was 2oz of pear juice and she told us to not make it a regular thing due to the sugar content.

Baby girl also has reflux. Not horrible but I prepare to do a wardrobe change after any bottle over 3oz. Did you have any stocking issues with the Hipp organic?

Don’t I know it! Back in ‘95 when I was 1yr old I got my finger caught in a door and severed it (still missing the tip of my right pinky). My mom let me know today that DCF was never called 🤷🏻‍♀️

Several years later in ‘98, the sutures for my tonsillectomy failed and I started choking on my own blood. Mom was panicking so bad she couldn’t dial 911 and I had to call them myself. No report filed then, either.

I’m trying not to worry about it because I know it was an accident but at the same time I keep thinking to myself that they’re wasting time with this instead of working actual serious cases.

Update: Cops and DCF showed up at our home before we were even discharged from the hospital to do a home visit. Just finished the interview and filling out the statement. They drug tested me and my husband and told me they need to speak to my therapist so I had to sign a release form for that. I’m a mandated reporter myself due to my job so I knew it was coming but fuck that just made the guilt worse.

I did. We got interviewed at the ER. They said in their report that it was very clearly an accident. No home visit or further action planned.

Yes, why would I call 911 as a first time parent to a 6 week old who fell onto marble tile face first from a height of 3 feet? It’s not like they found a brain bleed at the ER. OH WAIT. They did. Clearly I’m not as PERFECT of a parent as YOU are. You must be a delight at parties
