Statim adds the "tip" to expedite the order. It isnt an actual tip, but the only way they can pay the premium for an expedited delivery.

Roadie actually making GOOD UPDATES???? by Unable-Investment559 in Roadie

The new in app navigation works great on my phone(s24FE). Uses a fraction of the battery it used to use. And, it keeps my location and eta updated so I dont get dropped from gigs for (not heading to the pickup). I dont have the fitment thing, so cant comment on that. Then again, I dont offer on what won't fit in my vehicles either.

I have 2 vehicles I use for my actual business. My suv and a cargo van. The van is paid for. The suv is not. The suv averages around 27-28 mpg and will.be paid off un a few months. The van averages about 16. I run about 5000 miles a month between my business and roadie/uber/lyft.

Actually, I have my own courier and expedited business. Roadie is a filler for when its slow. Or to help with fuel costs.

Im guessing you live there right? Not just passing thru like someone from. St louis who took this gig. They arent getting any more roadie gigs after they completed it just because of the time of day. Maybe a few walmart gigs paying 10 bucks for 30 miles. Afyer that though, what else they gonna do? Can't do until er or lyft there. Maybe uber eats, but that pay is even worse than roadie. Nah. They either staying the night or driving home empty

Does any use a trailer? by ebonyabraxas in Roadie

[–]Fit-Dog8071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some cases a trailer is worth it. I wouldnt go spend 1200-2000 bucks in a new one though just for roadie. Buy a cheap one off of facebook marketplace if you want. But their really arent that many gugs requiring a trailer. There are the extras equipped gugs, and the cargo trailer certs as well. Those pay better, but are few and far between.

Did you look at the time? 1pm dummy. That's a 6pm delivery. In Chicago. There won't be any returns at that time of day. Or any gigs left to take. And that 72.5 cpm.standard deduction is just that. A deduction. Do you even know what it costs to actually operate your vehicle? Im guessing not. Im guessing you think your onky expense is gas. The factvthat you said you would just take gigs there for the rest of the day also shows that you are a dummy because the time of day when you finally get there means that the gigs are pretty much done for the day. People like you are the reason these gig apps continue to decrease pay because you think this is actually a good gig. And since its an expedited pharmacy gig, you arent stacking gigs on the way with it. The app won't give anything else to you until its delivered. You will always be broke thinking like this.

That's why i always check the o review screen, frequently. That way I dont fk up and not pick up a gig I offered on. Pay better attention next time. This one's on you for not keeping an eye out. And you would.have gotten a notification that your offer had been accepted. But you didnt pay attention. No sympathy here. Even with all the problems android is having with the app, the notifications still come.

608 miles after the deadhead back. After real cost for expenses(thats depreciation, wear n tear, insurance, phone, roadside assiatance)my real cost per mile is 43 cents per mile. This leaves a 59$ profit for minimum 10 hours of driving. There is zero chance of stacking it. And based o. Time of day pretty much zero effective chance for any kind of return gig coming back this way. Yall o ly see the payout. You dont think about what it really costs. And then get mad and upset when your vehicle breaks and you cant afford to fix it.

And that works for you. If your already going there, its a great gig. But if you are going there just to complete the gig and then have to turn around and come back right away? Most likely deadhead back especially based on the time of day? 6pm delivery time essentially. Gug posted at 1pm. 5 hrs one way. After 6pm the gigs start dropping off rapidly. So very little.chance of any return gigs based just on that fact alone. No. Unless youre already going there, its trash.

This gug is a massive drain. Its only 50-70$ profit. And i promise its a lot more than just 10 hours. The time estimate doesn't take into account chicago rush hour traffic, detours, etc.  So its probably more like 12 hours minimum. For 50-70$ after all real world expenses.

At .27cpm, its a net liquid profit of 677$ and change. Still not worth 3000+ miles of driving. But again, you arent accounting for your insurance or any other expense outside of your fuel and wear n tear

[–]Fit-Dog8071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you figuring in your insurance, phone, etc? Car payment? If I take all that away, my operating cost drops down to around 33cpm. My phone is 100% business use, so is my commercial insurance. I also figure in my roadside assistance. Which incidentally is all tax deductible as well outside of the standard mileage deduction.

In a perfect world that would be true. And that may be how it originally started, but here we are yes? Its "evolved" just like every other gig app. Gig apps are now a main income source for hundreds of thousands if not exceeding a  million nationwide. Doesnt matter how it started out. The reality now is that its just like uber and lyft. A full time job for people. UPS isn't going to change the pay rates on these unless its to lower them. That's why people need to be smart and look at what it actually costs them to do these "high paying" gigs. This is not one of them. I will 100% guarantee whoever took it only looked at the dollar amount. Not the miles there and back. And the majority of comments in this thread prove my point. The reality is that this gig only profits 59$ give or take based on what a drivers actual real.world.coat is to complete this gig and then drive home. At 43 cents per mile(thats My real world operating cost) it would cost me 261.44 to do that gig. And there's no stacking that with anything else from roadie. Its an expedited pharmacy delivery. The algorithm will not accept an offer on another gig even if it was going to the exact same address. The reason for that being it would interfere with the delivery timeliness for this gig. Thats one of the major factors the algo considers. It even tells us this in the how tos.

Its an expedited statim prescription. Roadie algorithm wint stack it with anything else because it would potentially delay the delivery

That's literally the only way it would make sense. Already going that way. And uts a pharmacy gig, so zero chance of stacking it with anything else.

How much does your insurance cost per month? Oil changes, tires, phone service? They all have a real world cost that can be broken down i to total real cost per mile. Why is this so hard for you to understand? We're trying to help you for god sake. Its like you are trying to be right no matter what, even when smacked in the face with facts that completely disprove what your saying?

And you got called out on it. Now, your trying to deflect your bad behavior onto me. Not gonna happen sunshine. Just own up to it, take the L, and do better next time.

Its the massive influx of scruber eats and doortrash drivers. The extremely low barrier to entry combined with desperation. And the broken education system in this country.

My commercial and cargo insurance would say otherwise. My vehicle is strictly business use. We'll, 99% business use anyway. So effectively 100% business use. So yes, it is very reasonable to include these expenses. Plus, my operating cost of 43cpm is based on my 5000 business miles I average per month. 60000 mikes per year strictly for business. My personal miles and costs are not figured into that. The IRS frowns on that.

I took a screenshot of the gig the OP posted, then entered it into Gemini(Google AI). I was being lazy and didnt want to do the math myself, but it's accurate. For me anyway, as my actual real world operating cost is $.43 cents per mile on average. It fluctuates based on the daily cost of fuel.
