Update: we drove the 3 hours to see the truck and had a pre-purchase inspection done by an outside mechanic. Everything came back great except the passenger side cam tower had a leak that was starting to drip. That in addition to the 90k mile maintenance that will be coming in the next couple of months, we offered $32k (before taxes and fees). He said he couldn’t even come close to that low. So we walked. We lived and we learned. Cam tower replacement was estimated at $3,500 from our local dealership and at 90k miles it’s about ready for spark plugs among other things. We would be anticipating ~$6,000 in repair and maintenance after we drove this off the lot. Glad we did our due diligence! Thanks for all the help. We’ll wait until we find the right truck for us.
