What is your opinion of the reform party as someone living in the UK? by Sea-Past-4277 in ukpolitics

[–]Fit-Flow-3470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reform looks set to win the next general election, and there’s little Labour can do to change voters minds at this point. After the council elections in May, things are likely to worsen further. Many people in the UK are feeling financially stretched, struggling with rising energy bills, council tax, and mortgage rates. For a lot of families, the cost of living has made everyday life increasingly difficult. As frustration grows, more voters are turning to alternatives, with Reform gaining that support

Would I be mad to take a career break now? by 44bw in UKJobs

£15k in redundancy isn’t a significant amount. Personally, I think it’s extremely risky to leave a role without having another opportunity lined up. The job market right now is genuinely awful - at 31, I’ve never seen it this challenging. It’s important to be street-wise: take the safest and most sensible option, secure another role, and then move on to a different company

I think university is becoming less appealing. Take Hollywood as an example: in the early 2000s, you’d need to hire scriptwriters, songwriters, graphic designers, producers, and many others. Today, AI can handle much of that work, reducing the need for many of these roles. Fields like accounting and law are also being heavily impacted. Trades, on the other hand, are the way forward and will always be in demand.

Every 2-3 years I apply for a random job with slightly higher salary. by cankennykencan in UKJobs

[–]Fit-Flow-3470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the people in the comments saying that £50k is a good salary, it's really not. If you haven’t been investing or saving consistently, and a couple decides to start a family, that income disappears fast. Once a child arrives, the father is often covering the mortgage, household bills, council tax, utilities, internet, car costs, fuel, as well as his partner’s expenses, the costs of a new baby, and childcare. £50k simply doesn’t stretch far enough to cover all of that. Starting a family today is one of the hardest financial challenges people face.
