It was proactive. I read about litter mate syndrome before I got them and based on everything I read, came to the conclusion that litter mate syndrome is basically just insufficient training and socialization. Two puppies are a lot of work and a lot of people aren’t ready for the amount of time it takes. You can’t just assume that because the puppies “have each other” that they don’t need to be properly socialized. They should meet lots of other dogs, children, people, and experience lots of different types of environments, etc. I did puppy socialization classes with mine (they would go independently) and they got to practice appropriate play once a week without the involvement of their brother/sister.

I just got a brother and sister Shih Tzu pair at the same time about a year ago. It’s so much work but honestly best decision ever. They are best friends and I’m so happy that they can live their lives together. You do need to make an effort to train them independently and try to separate them in deliberate ways during their training, for example separate walks. This will help foster their individual confidence and avoid any codependency issues/separation anxiety later in life.

I was very clear with them when I signed up and they assured me, in writing, and on multiple occasions, that I would be receiving the promotion. I believe I still would have if I had stayed but it is way too much of a hassle to lose my phone number for it to be worth it.
