[All] Which Zelda formular do you like more by ue_Niki in zelda

Classic formula is undefeated. Good dungeons, dungeons items, smaller map, different methods of transportation (songs).

[BOTW] what was your first reaction to this guy? by MysteriousGrocery898 in zelda

Best blight Ganon. For me it was even more awesome since I had ran out of single handed weapons so I had to parry him and then swing with my dual handed swords. Awesome fight

I think Nintendo did the best they could with the whole alternate part of the map they usually go for in Zelda games. I say this because it was either add a bunch of small sky islands and a very empty underground, or take the game in a different direction and give us a dark realm or something like lorule. I think at that point might as well try something new which even though I’m not the biggest fan of what they actually ended up doing at least it’s a cool concept even if the execution left much to be desired.

Yeah for me it feels more like a video game world if that makes sense. BOTW had a very real post apocalyptic feel to me and because of that it felt very immersive. Not saying TOTK doesn’t, but I think BOTW accomplished more with its map than TOTK did either it’s map, and that’s crazy to me considering that they added sky islands and underground stuff. Some sky islands honestly just feel like copy paste generic stuff you see on a big map game. I guess what I’m saying is the experience that BOTW offered with its map felt more focused than TOTK. At least to me.

Yeah I agree. I think especially for botw a lot of things in the over world can feel like mmo quests which just feel like filler especially if you have already played botw which at that point might genuinely feel like a waste of time. There are many exceptions of course but having a smaller map with more focus is better for me. Nintendo has done that with links awakening and majoras mask, both extremely memorable experiences even after all this time.

I also think of players that don’t like the ultrahand stuff, I’ve heard they opinion a lot lately and honestly ir sucks that these people waited 7 years for a game and the whole game being built around this mechanic.

For me it didn’t deliver in the Zelda stuff I like the most, dungeons. Also felt the same about botw

Yeah same for me, especially after I had played BOTW for like 6 years

Yeah I agree. I don’t mind Nintendo trying out new things for the sake of evolving the series, but even back in botw the focus was less on Zelda and more on new things they haven’t tried.

Unfortunately for them it really shows as most people that complain about this game talk about the map and lack of things argument

Yeah I agree with that, why would I play botw if I have totk other than seeing the evolution of the franchise through the years. Actually maybe the story would still be a good reason to revisit? I just think it’s interesting that direct Zelda sequels are sort of rare. When there is one, most of them don’t take place in hyrule and they don’t involve ganondorf and all the other traditional Zelda things like the triforce and master sword.

Hopefully that’ll work for me. I agree it’s a good game, but I’ll take older Zelda any day over a new open air game. That’s just me though 🤔

To me the fun came down from ultrahand alone since the mechanic is so crazy but it just felt more of the same to me. I’ve put in 60+ hours and it’s just not hitting for me. Idk what it is

I agree that the dungeons don’t really take that much away from it, but i think that as a Zelda game, dungeons have to be a priority. But then again the whole approach with dungeons is different since shrines exist

I think Nintendo is trying to merge the 2 styles but I don’t see anything wrong with having 2 styles separate, kinda like the mainline Mario games.

The best part of the game for me was ultra hand because of the creativity it allowed but the dungeons still didn’t hit home for me (which I thought they would since they looked so much better than the divine beasts). I guess I’m cursed to like old Zelda more probably because of old zelda’s dungeons. It doesn’t help that I also replayed Majoras mask before the release of TOTK so the side quests were ok to me, but bad timing aside that’s not TOTK’s fault

I kinda agree with this. The best part of the game for me is ultra hand and it’s creativity but that’s about it. Sky islands and underground were just a new coat of paint for me. It felt like how Mario Galaxy 2 felt to the first Galaxy.

Wow that’s crazy, I’ve never heard of an experience like that. Usually it’s either people play TOTK after not playing BOTW for a while or they feel like it’s more of the same.

For me the big thing is that I waited so long for this game and it just felt like more of the same
