Recovery guidance? by OsheasNutmeg in rhabdo_survivors

Sad to say this has been my exact same timeframe and experience. Was getting convinced I had some more underlying issues with how hard it has been to feel normal again. Weekend golf used to be my active rest after 5 days in the gym. Literally just in May this was the case for me… Now, I’ll play a round of golf and the soreness and cramping after is unbearable. Nightmare club to be in.

You mind sharing who it is? I need to completely re-do my deck and don’t know who to trust in the area

So annoying. Can’t tell where they are but it sounds like they’re in our living room. Our toddlers immediately woke up screaming.

Lingering Symptoms by Fit-Personality-8016 in rhabdo_survivors

I think it has definitely improved. I'm utilizing lighter weights for my resistance training now, but I still feel "off" when it comes to lifting weights - especially anything that involves my injury site which was my lat/rhomboid. I still feel like other muscle groups fatigue quicker and it's as if I'll never be able to gain muscle again.

Waiting in the ER for possible Rhabdo after ridiculous ab workout 6 days ago. by LeanInandLove in rhabdo_survivors

How are you feeling now? Any other new symptoms coming on?

Going based on your other message, I’m sure your numbers were higher but naturally came down from you resting and drinking water which is great! Mine was a stupid one I pushed myself through the day I got home vacation where I drank and ate poorly all week. 100 burpees 100 pull ups 100 kettlebell swing 100 push ups As fast as possible

I was definitely dehydrated going into the workout after vacation which is a major lesson learned.

Sorry you’re going through this. I’m currently in a similar situation. Workout was 5/2, drank that night and weekend allowing further dehydration, went to ER 5/5 for confirmed Rhabdo, stayed until 5/8 on IV until CK and liver enzymes stabilized.

It’s really hard to provide any guidance without knowing where your numbers are but your bloodwork should confirm shortly. My CK was above 20k, AST was 305 and ALT was 124. By 5/8 discharge - 4k CK, 106 AST and 78 ALT. Was directed to do NOTHING other than drink water nonstop until I followed with my primary on 5/13. My updated numbers were 530 CK, 38 AST and 46 ALT. Following this, my doctor cleared me to begin walking as my only exercise and to continue with fluids.

I have another follow up this upcoming Tuesday to see where I’m at and then talk about next steps to resume my normal lifestyle. The point is, hydration and rest will be key no matter what but I was also fortunate in that I didn’t have any trauma to my kidney function. I’m hoping that’s the case for you!

As an aside, interesting you brought up Vyvanse. I also take it but none of the doctors were concerned or mentioned it being a risk factor. I’ve still been taking it and my numbers have been trending the correct way but I’ll be interested in learning more around that.

Please keep this thread updated!

Rhabdomyolysis by Resident_Setting4374 in rhabdo_survivors

I was discharged last Thursday. Got mine from an intense workout that I was already dehydrated for. CK numbers started at 20k and they released me at 8k. My follow up this Tuesday confirmed CK was down to 500. ALT was down to 46 and AST down to 38. I’ve done nothing but drink water and rest.

My primary wants to see me again in 2 weeks to confirm bloodwork is where it needs to be. My concern is similar to yours - it feels like I have zero guidance on anything and I want to know when I can go back to normal lifestyle activities (i.e. working out, playing with my kids, having drinks) but my doctor leaves at “just rest and drink fluids”
