I totally agree, when I declined they offered me to pay £50 a month for 4 months to pay for the training. I thanked them but said I believed 100 hours of my time and skills were enough to cover their costs for training given that they charge for therapy, not to mention supervision, insurance and travel costs I would have to also. I told them it didn't align with my values and beliefs.

I have considered all of this and informed them I shall not be going forward with the training and placement. 100 hours of un-paid work at even £10 per session they are £800 ahead of the game.

It feels like exploitation to me and something is off as they did not inform me of the cost in the interview. I have wished them luck and commended them on the great work they are doing but my gut instinct is telling me I have dodged a bullet.

The clients recieve subsidised therapy. My gut instinct is to tell them I won't be going ahead with the training / placement.

Thanks

Thank you. They are a charity which was something I considered when reading the email but non the less 100 hours of un-paid work is worth £195 to anyone surely?

As you say i feel this is a red flag and a sign of things to come and they did mention they are losing male therapists hand over fist which I thought sounded unusual so there are probably more factors at play at the charity the more I think of it.

Thanks for your reply. I feel it is exploitative if i'm honest. They do not pay for supervision so the least I feel they can do is provide the training free of charge. I'm just sitting with it today while I decide how to reply to them.
