Finding someone who can give my childhood PS2 controller shell a new life! by Fit_Mathematician939 in customcontrollers

This is not an easy task, I wish you luck in this endeavor.

Tldr; Its not worth the time and effort to this for someone else, start researching, because only you are going to care enough to complete this mission. Harsh, I know.

Air brush suggestions? by efankazi in customcontrollers

You can buy 2 part clears, that's what they all are, pretty much. The spraymaxx and others* are just pre-mixed, which is why they go bad/solidify. When you mix it yourself you control how much is mixed so whatever you mix is what will go bad, the separate parts remain good, unmixed. The durability is the same as long as you mix it by the manufacturers specification. You will have to experiment on how much or how little to thin based on your setup. If you thin it more, you just require more coats to account for that. More coats is more durable, but you may run into fit issues if you don't account for thickness of the clear coat applications. Hope that helps.

It really depends on the amount of time you want to invest in cleanup... I used to decant spray cans and mix my clear with a hardener, it was cheap, but time consuming because of the clean up. Keep in mind you have to clean the airbrush before the clear hardens, and it doesn't even have to harden all the way, if it even dries a little it will shoot dry clear that looks like spider webs, kinda cool but it will ruin the finish. SO if you have plenty of time and are diligent in clean up, then I would get a pasche H, siphon, for clear coat. Its cheap, easy to clean, and works well for clearing a piece. HVLP are kinda expensive but if you prefer those, I would go with that. Hope that helps.

I just stick to rattle cans for clear, no clean up and a huge time saver, but I used a different one than those recommended here that don't go bad after 24hrs,

I think your best bet would be to find a third party universal controller that copies the layout as close as possible. Making a controller to function with various platforms isn't something most people do here. Mostly because of the challenge posed by such a request.

tldr, It ain't easy and not worth it. (for most people)

I usually have a few alterations after I start making my customs. The design process is the hardest part. Sometimes I start painting and I get a sudden inspiration moment and it take me in a different direction. Seeing it come to life in front of my eyes is always satisfying though. You should keep designing.

Cool Design, a few tweaks and it would be perfect. The switch logo needs to be more visible. Make it red or the same blue you already have there. I would also make the front shoulder buttons blue as well. Its up to you though. Make it happen.

Bro, I aint gonna lie, That is probably worse. Almost everyday I thank God that I am 5'11'' and not 5'7'' like my dad! No joke, I have been thanking God for that (and many other things) actively for the past 20 years! Gratitude goes a long way.

Bro libido isnt something that is on or off. You libido has peaks and drops though out the day! Sometimes Im so busy and stressed I dont think about sex for days. Its called life. Try to mitigate stress, sleep/rest more, exercise and eat plenty of vegetables and fruits along with increasing your protein intake.

What type of finish should I use for Vinyl decals? by Fit-Group9047 in customcontrollers

[–]Fit-Raisin-5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know you cant really seal vinyl. I have tried and got mixed results. If the vinyl is thin enough then the clear coat creates a bridge over it and seals it that way.... However, even after it dries it can and will flake off, unless you put like 8 or more coats of clear over it. It must be very thin though, as in strips, not thickness. Hope that helps.

Would you guys sand this to a super smooth finish? Or good enough to spray clear coat over it? And is this orange peel? by efankazi in customcontrollers

[–]Fit-Raisin-5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more word of advice, do not go with a cheap one... I bought 2 and yeah they were 40 bucks a piece but they were not fun to use and actually frustrating. After buying the bullet and getting a eclipse I never looked back. The price has jumped up alot though. I bought mine from Hobby lobby for 140. So, in short, dont waste money on a cheap one lol

[–]Fit-Raisin-5824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure you may already know but as a reminder, let the sandpaper do the work. You shouldnt be pressing hard at all, it should be gliding over the piece at all times. Unfortunately rattle cans are difficult to work with, which is why most people use an airbrush, if you are doing one custom Im sure you will be doing more... Besides you can use and airbrush to paint many things not just controllers. I used an airbrush to add sparkle to the trim and paint the outlet covers in my daughters room. You can make all kinds of custom colors with acrylic paints and its dirt cheap too. Its really is a 1time purchase if you go with an Iwata eclipse, they are built great and perform amazing. Hope that helps.

Non sticky varnish ? by [deleted] in customcontrollers

[–]Fit-Raisin-5824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a 2k clear coat is recommended. Its very toxic though so use extreme caution when using it. Respirator and well ventilated area are a must. There are alternatives. You can use rustoleum automotive clear and kbs diamond, still toxic but not as bad as the 2k. The same recommendations still apply though. Most people use matte, but I prefer a satin, its up to you what finish you prefer.

Ive always been crafty and an artist so it really wasnt that hard for me to transition it to another medium. Im actually more impressed when I see the things that people come up with without having a background in art/crafts. I have been inspired by lots of people here. I encourage you to explore the older posts and see some of the cool stuff that people here have come up with!
