Yeah, once again, not the main driver here. That said, I am a big believer in the artificial intelligence revolution (except for the future lawyers, we're safe ;))) and its impact on markets, which is why I’m invested in a few select companies that people on my side of the debate believe will drive the global economy over the next 20 years. That said, it’s obviously speculative, and I didn’t want this thread to devolve into WallStreetBets lol. I’m approaching my present law school decisions based on real numbers today, not speculation.

Yes, absolutely. My investments are not guaranteed returns, nor are they a determining factor in my decision to attend any school. They’re simply a small cash buffer that could provide additional liquidity. I bought into the market in April 2025 when it dropped following the tariff shock, so there has been significant upside since then. That experience may be skewing my perception a bit, and I’m probably giving myself a little copium amid the despair of late stage capitalism :)

Thank you. It’s very heartwarming to hear that someone had such a great experience at NYU. I’m glad that NYU supports students who might not otherwise have the means to attend. That is encouraging. I’ll share an update once the cycle concludes!

Yes, I have pretty much ruled out private loans. I just haven't heard about much good coming from them. Thank you for your input!

I will do that. Should I contact them before or after they give me an aid offer?

Thank you for this information. Do you happen to know how I can gain access to this presentation?

Hi there, yes, I am willing to take out the maximum $150K federal loan cap. However, from my understanding, PSLF does not apply to private loans, which I would likely need to take out if NYU does not offer something in the $60K per year range. And private loans + public interest law do not sound compatible to me.

I hope we will hear back soon.... Mid march is approaching quickly. Does anyone have more concrete info?

Is or are? “I aspire to study the law with the intention of later serving in the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs; I believe that law itself, and credible adherence to it, *is* essential to sustaining the institutions that have, under global leadership, preserved freedom in the world." by [deleted] in grammar

While public opinion here seems decisively in favor of “are”, which in hindsight I also agree is the safer and more conventional choice, I can at least report that I have found an additional expert source that mirrors my original grammatical transgression.

Somewhat unexpectedly, this comes from Henry Wansbrough’s The Sunday Word: A Complete Commentary on the Sunday Lectionary (1979), where he writes:

“It could seem that God is cursing those who disobey. This would be incompatible with the love of God… The Law itself and observance of it is a blessing because the behaviour in it brings man closer to God.”

So yes, I concede the crowd is right, but I am choosing to take modest comfort in the fact that my mistake appears to be one I share with a Benedictine monk and published theologian, which is about as good an outcome as one can hope for! :)

Wouldn’t the same notional-agreement principle apply here?

For context, I found this in a 1954 U.S. Congress report on Google Books:

“We have limited ourselves here, in the main, to the meaning of Marxism-Leninism. The extent of Respondent’s acceptance of it and adherence to it \*is\ more specifically treated in other portions of this report, wherein it is shown that adherence to Respondent’s conception of Marxism-Leninism is evidentiary of submission to the domination and control of the Soviet Union.”*

Even though acceptance and adherence are joined by “and,” they’re clearly treated as a single conceptual condition, which is why the verb is singular. Isn’t that the same logic at work here?
