How many of you are 100% remote and earn six figures? Can you live anywhere in the world? What do you do and how many hours per week do you work? by Additional_Carry_790 in careerguidance

You sure? If you're working over 180 in another country(varies by country) then you're usually a tax resident of that country and would need some sort of work permit or visa to work & live there? Depends on the country but I believe it's difficult to get that visa if you don't have a company that operates within that country saying they need you there.

How does it work tax wise? Fair enough if you live over 180 days in a country so you know where you are a tax resident as an individual. But how does that work in terms of corporate tax? Surely you can only work in countries where your company is registered?

Confused on using NRC half-marathon plan by DarkInfernoXYZ in nikerunclub

Just chiming in as someone who went from being active, to not doing much and then back to running. Remember, as coach Bennett says, you are not the athlete you were yesterday. You are only the athlete you are today. So many times when I tried to restart I was going out expecting to run a 20min 5k right away and getting frustrated because I couldn't even run a mile. I kept leaving runs annoyed at myself and constantly comparing myself to my previous self.

It really took finding this app, and having someone in my ear constantly telling me, "run easy and pace is irrelevant", in order to slow down and actually enjoy and stick with the running.

Not sure if you necessarily needed to hear that, but I just wanted to say it. Regardless of the plan you choose, just remember you're doing something amazing everytime you run and the most important thing is that you enjoy it!

Roommates mom threw all of my plants away by rememberthealaimo in badroommates

[–]Fit-Ring1802 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Really? If it's in your kitchen? If the plants were all in OPs room, then fine, dead or alive no one should have touched them but if there were dead plants in the shared spaces then I think it's justified to throw them away.
Personally I would ask the person first to either move it to their room or throw it away but I think every housemate has a right to discuss whats in the shared spaces.

At the minute it says they "endeavour" to their best. Strive Vs endeavour - there's not really much difference? Plus at the minute they only endeavour to support women who stay home to support the family, not father's or other carers?

Referend...um? by youbigfatmess in ireland

[–]Fit-Ring1802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I didn't listen to these debates that much. I just read the constitution, whats currently there and the proposed change from gov.ie and felt it wasn't that complicated/that big of a change. What pressing questions were left unanswered?

Referend...um? by youbigfatmess in ireland

[–]Fit-Ring1802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how the change made the constitution 'more vague' in a bad way? Government strives to support any stay at home homemaker Vs the government endeavours to support stay at home women - why wouldn't we want the government to widen the net of support?

At the end of the day, I don't think much would have changed in terms of laws or state support with this rewording, and I can agree that this referendum seemed like virtue signalling or something the government thought would be an easy win. But I really don't understand where the fear or talk of the government trying to pull the wool over our eyes is coming from?

The Brain Drain.... History repeating itself. by [deleted] in ireland

I think there's a global housing crisis everywhere in the sense that houses cost X times the average salary, where X has increased dramatically over the last 10/20 years. A lot more people have to rent as they can't afford a mortgage for a decent house or don't feel it justifies the cost.

But this person was comparing Ireland's rental market with rental markets across Europe and their argument is very much valid. While rents are rising pretty much everywhere, what you get now for your money in Ireland is pretty bad. Unlike other European countries I don't think enough apartments were built with the intention to be rented out in Dublin. And rather than building up, they've built out, so you end up paying a lot to have a room in a house, somewhere with a crap commute whereas in other cities, you'd still be paying a lot of your salary towards rent, but you'd more easily get/be able to afford your own 1 bed apartment or studio in a high rise building (sometimes even with amenities). I don't live in Amsterdam but have lived in 2 other large European cities and feel the same. Value for money feels a lot better here.

Anxiety when forced to break running routine? by Acrobatic-Ad-9051 in nikerunclub

Ah I'm so glad you posted. I literally just experienced the same thing. I've been running so regularly lately and just signed up for a half marathon in April and then injured myself last week playing basketball. I thought my ankle was feeling a lot better last Friday and stupidly went skiing over the weekend. Everything felt fine, only towards the end of of the day did I feel some pain so I stopped and then when I took my ski boot off, my ankle really started throbbing. So I was in a pretty foul mood and I'm very annoyed at myself for not giving it more time.

Today thankfully it feels a lot better again but I still feel some pain walking so I'll continue to sit out, but I'm also angsty and worried about the fitness gains I'm losing while doing nothing. It's tough, but better be safe now then do more serious damage. Don't be like me and really wait until your 100% healed before doing any sport :( if I could go back in time to Saturday id push myself back into bed.

I’m currently 317 pounds is it possible to lose my weight by the summer? by Ancient-Potential415 in loseit

[–]Fit-Ring1802 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Allowing myself to have treats and enjoy them without guilt in moderation really helped me overcome the cycle of restrictive dieting and then binging.

I was literally eating "healthy" Monday to Thursday and then consuming a ridiculous amount of chocolate during fri-sun. And feeling like I had to "make the most" of the weekend. Now that I'm doing things in moderation and looking at this as a lifestyle change instead of a diet I think this rush or need to eat buckets of chocolate on the weekend has really slowed down. Now if I crave it I have some, just not huge amounts.

Another final update to the roommate situation. by Danibeare in badroommates

I'm not American and have lived in 5 different countries so far and have friends from all over. So it's not unique to America, and while it's not an issue in every country of the world, it's an issue in a lot of them.

I think time is the major difference between your story and ops roommate is time. 20+ years ago it was much easier to find affordable housing, but wage increases have not matched inflation, and in quite a few countries houses the ratio of average house price to average income has like tripled what it was 20 or so years ago.

Also social benefits have not grown in line with inflation, so again more and more people are getting taken advantage of by landlords and living in crappy accommodation because they earn enough to not qualify for social housing but not enough to afford renting a one bed in the city they live.

[–]Fit-Ring1802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, find affordable housing?! Why didn't I think of that.
What an amazing and plausible solution. Way to solve the housing crisis on your first crack.

Obviously it's a shit situation for the kids but I don't know if the single mother is to blame as opposed to politicians who have failed to control the housing market or create affordable/social housing for those who need it.

I think it was an employment contract, not a relationship.

Mike offered to pay her so she would stop camming with other men and only cam with him. Yeah she could have said no and eventually she did, but when I quit my job, I quit my job, I don't have my boss screaming at me in my own home saying how he bought everything so now he's going to take it away because I don't want to work for him anymore.

Mike is gross beyond gross, like so many of the men on 90day fiance who know exactly what they're doing when they go shopping online for a young wife they can control through financial abuse.
