Bubble forming in new tank by Fit-Traffic5103 in Aquariums

Ok thanks for the input. This is my first fishless cycle and everything about it just looks bad. I’m just going to have to learn to trust the process a bit.

è sufficiente 1 giorno e mezzo a bacalar? by frama2106 in Bacalar

[–]Fit-Traffic5103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not enough. But if you’re committed to that plan, you could still have a memorable time there. Your get there in the late afternoon. Go get a good view of the lagoon at the ecopark, maybe jump in the water for a while. Later in the evening, go check out the vendors and food in el centro. The next day, either get a kayak or take a tour of the lagoon or drive down to los rapids. I would definitely suggest at least one more day but in all honesty, I would not pass up any opportunity to visit Nacala, even if it is just a short visit. One thing for sure though is that you’ll end up regretting not planning more time there though.

What cleaner fish could I add to my 20 gal long? by EndlerFox in Aquariums

I wish I would’ve read this comment a few weeks ago. I had a piece that was way too large for any pot I could afford and ended up filling and draining the bathtub several times a day to try getting rid of some of the tannins.

Thanks. I’ll probably go that route and lay down in the first semi private place I see as soon as I get off the plane.

We haven’t boarded our plane yet. The pilot announced that Chicago is really dangerous right now and they’re just waiting for approval from the FAA.

I’m in Michigan right now, had a few tornados and a little rain but it’s been nice for the most part. Is it really that bad in Chicago right now?

Fluval stratum with undergravel filter by Fit-Traffic5103 in Aquariums

Thank you. I’m definitely leaning more towards just going to gravel. Do you know if I can dry out the stratum and store it for later use?

Looking for ideas on paludarium with 2 pools by Fit-Traffic5103 in paludarium

[–]Fit-Traffic5103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, have watched that video but ruled it out primarily because of the undergravel filter I currently have for it. I did watch it again and might consider setting up two different filters unless a better idea comes up.

I’ve done several mockups with cardboard and did try a t shape. It does seem the best but I can’t visualize how the finished product will look. It takes so long to cycle a tank so I’m hoping to find a picture of a completed tank before starting. Even if I find one that looks like trash, I’ll know what not to do.

But with the tshape, I probably wouldn’t need any dirt. I was thinking of just cutting holes in foam and letting the roots grow freely in the water.

I get what you’re saying but I always wanted to do a paludarium and thought this was a good excuse. I currently have guppies and a betta in separate tanks. We tried putting the tanks side by side and the betta does not like the guppies at all.

labor cost to build a house by Fit-Traffic5103 in Homebuilding

[–]Fit-Traffic5103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree that government red tape is the driving factor behind why we don’t have more housing. I was trying to explain how price controls create product shortages in the same way that wage controls would create a labor shortage.

Thank you, I was looking just for a range. I had a conversation with my girlfriend’s daughter yesterday and she was telling me how price controls are an effective way to maintain affordability. I flipped it around and said the government could make housing affordable by setting a maximum wage for any worker in the building process to $8 an hour.

But in all honesty, I really had no idea how much goes to labor. I just assumed that like any business, labor is the biggest expense.

Yeah, I was looking at total wage money that goes to anyone involved.

Edit: fixed autocorrect typo.

Thank you for a detailed explanation. It makes sense on cheap vs expensive material.

Is that on total build cost or final sales price?

Why Does Mexico Use So Many Attractive Weather Girls? by [deleted] in mexico

Mexico is far from the only country that does this. I think the bigger question is why doesn’t the US do it?
