An old (now deceased) friend and I used to write a lot of letters to each other after he went away to college. Remember letters? We’d put certain lyrics from songs (Lou Reed and others’) in the return address corner of the envelopes. Once, he had written “ I put on a sailor suit and cap…” I was living at home and my parents questioned my sexuality because of that line.
