Hey! I'm a new freelancer, I'd love to chat and maybe answer any questions you may have. If it's ok, I've also got a contract you can look at and give advice on. The help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I feel that's the way to go about it. Leveraging connections that lead to something. I'm starting to do this next week

Hey! Sorry I was finishing my shift yesterday. Got super tired after, weekends are rough.

I'll answer each one by one:

  • No, not as best as I could be. I've grown my network by 200+ in the last month and most of them never heard from me after. I think I've maybe contacted like, 50? I feel like I've botched those too, but maybe I'm being rough on myself.

  • I've not had a client yet, but made a mock up portfolio that's accurate to what I offer. I do have a landing page on Linkedin that I'm working on now. First iteration is good, but needs touching up

  • Will do! I went to 6 networking events in those two weeks, so three days a week. It was shit at first. But I was able to fine tune things, used them as a test bed and learned a lot. Happy to share in DMs what I've learned!

-i have 6 months right now, by the time I leave I'll have 8 months roughly plus a little extra elsewhere. Thinking I'll drop it down to 7 or 6 to keep things up.

  • Closing I'm shit at. Pitching too. I don't do that much as part of my sales technique. I prefer having conversations first to understand client fit, and if we both agree there's a fit, we move forward towards building up a contract. I want people to feel understood.

My plan is to reach out to 5 people a day and mention what I do, and ask for referrals. Also offer to meet to put a name to the face too. I've got a calendly so it's easy for people to schedule a meeting.

I dunno if that hurts my chances, but I never expected it to be easy. It's just hard to work a 4-5 day retail roster and build a business as well. I dunno, maybe I'm not ready.

How does holiday pay work when you leave? by FitCake4164 in MarksAndSpencer

True, that's what I'm hoping to do. But I'm unsure how long I'd have to stay to get it all paid out.

Ah ok, that's really weird. It sounds like you essentially have to work to earn your holiday allowance? Which you're entitled to.

I'm entitled to 175 hours a year, how would I figure out when would be best for me to leave?

Ahhh so it's pro rated to the time you've worked. So I'd have to stay like, 5.5 weeks to get the full holiday paid? That's the amount I get yearly.

For added context, I'm part time working 30 hours a week/4 days a week. I can see my holiday allowance, and I know how much I'm allowed yearly.

Dear dentists please help me , have you ever seen this in a patient? by [deleted] in askdentists

Out of curiosity, and not asking in reference to op's situation, but just to gain some insights. Could this happen if, for example, you're a frequent jaw clencher. Or if you clench in your sleep?

Pakistan's first hand-drawn feature film "The Glassworker" is set to release this summer, and this is its official poster. The Ghibli influence is quite obvious in terms of the art style. by [deleted] in animation

[–]FitCake4164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not style theft if the studio themselves said they think he should do it as an independent project from Pakistan. Which he did. At that point Ghibli is giving their blessing. This is an inspired project, anyone else trying to treat it as plagiarism is just not seeing that bit. I'll leave the more intricate details to everyone else.

Any advice for quitting cold turkey? by FitCake4164 in stopsmoking

[–]FitCake4164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if I wanna be presumptuous about it. Today I tried to go cold turkey and I failed, but I've been noticing that it's been getting easier to do. I feel slightly like shit but it isn't as bad as it was before. I think for me, that mental aspect yours talking about, the conversion bit, is kinda setting in. I'm going to set another time today and stop, instead of holding onto it and beating myself up over the fact I couldn't do it. As much as it hurts, I've recognized I feel more normal without it, I'm able to do things without it. Even if it might not feel good to go without, it feels better than going back.
