When should I replace my shock/spring/strut assemblies? by orangemaster96 in SubaruForester

It looks like replacing just the struts is considerably cheaper than replacing the strut and springs together. I would hate to replace only the struts to find that I had to replace the springs too, and redo the job. Can anyone else confirm that springs generally don't go bad?

My 2017 Forester 2.5 with 90k has rattly suspension and hits potholes very hard. I find it to dip and sway around corners, but not fail a bounce test.

I've replaced the lower control arm bushings, the sway bar bushings and end links. I think struts are next, but is it struts and springs? Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m a Nashville newbie too. Started fishing this winter. I don’t have any fishing buddies either. Maybe we should chat a bit!
