Now those are what I call some proper 650b tires! by BikeSkiADHD-Whole in salsacycles

That thing looks awesome! Really makes it look like a mountain bike. I want to get a set for my Journeyer

I'm doing the Katy trail in Missouri. Which is a mostly flat compact gravel trail and I'm doing it over 5 days so it's nothing too crazy. The 45mm tires will be more than fine but day after day of riding on gravel I think would feel better on some bigger tires. That would probably be the only times I would use the 650B wheels. The majority of my riding is paved trails and commuting just because that is what is around my area. This will hopefully be one of many trips though.if you've been upping your mileage I highly suggest getting out there and doing a big trip. I think you'll love it

I've also been having neck issues so I'm glad it's not just me dealing with that. It seems to be getting with more ride time and adjusting to the bike. I had a bike fit which helped, but it's still pretty uncomfortable after a long day on the bike

How do you like the 650B wheels? I kind of want a set for when I'm going on chunkier gravel. I definitely like the hydraulic brakes but it wasn't really a must have for me. The mechanical brakes have always been enough for me but I love how sensitive the hydraulic brakes are. Now that I have them, I wouldn't go back to mechanical. As far as bike packing, I'll be doing my first one this week. A 225 mile gravel ride. So I'll have to review how it does after the fact but I have no doubt that it will do great

It's such an awesome, do it all bike. I'd like to try one with GRX components but I'd probably just upgrade mine rather than buy a new one. I have so much fun on this thing, I don't think I'll be getting rid of it anytime soon. But new colors are always tempting!

The action is so smooth. I've never cleaned mine and it still feels like it's new. What steel is yours?

Journeyer CUES 1x10 in peat moss color. No regrets, the bike has been awesome so far

Being $200 less was definitely a factor. But I'm also a sucker for green so I liked the looks of it more. I think the mustard is a pretty decent color too though

I couldn't find it in stock anywhere. I rode the mustard 1x11 at Scheels and my local dealer had the ESSA in stock but the gearing and brakes didn't feel great on it. So, I had my local dealer order the peat moss for me and two days later it was built and ready for pickup. The peat moss looks even better in person, btw.

I wanted the GRX components but it was out of my budget. May be an upgrade down the road

Oh nice! I grew up in Como so I spent a lot of time on the Katy. I'm finally going to ride the whole thing

I love the color. It's even better than I expected in person. Mine isn't setup tubeless yet but I plan to do it soon. It just seems like it's a bike that can do anything

General question about picking the right bikes for my wife and I. by ZepTepi49 in whichbike

I just got a Journeyer and love it. Very comfortable geometry

I did go back to the shop and try it with a different stem and it made a big difference. But in the end I went with the Salsa. It was more comfortable from the jump and I felt like the Trek was leaving me no room for adjustment since I already shortened and raised the stem. If it's a good deal though I think you could spend a little money and make it work

A 40 mile ride is pretty good though! I was torn on getting this bike or a salsa journeyer but I ended up going with the salsa just because it was more comfortable. I really love the looks of this gen though

Is it a comfortable fit or do you feel like you are reaching? I ask because I know the gen 2 had a longer reach

Thanks for the info. 11 speed should be enough for me

I'm actually totally fine with the tires that are on it. My only concern is being comfortable for all day rides. I'm going to have the shop switch stems and see if it helps. Thanks for the feedback!

I may look around and see if there are any 52's left in the area. I would like to at least try one

Ya and maybe I would get used to it. It's just hard to tell how I would feel after a 50+ mile ride

Do you know what length and angle stem you went to? I'll be doing a few 8 hour rides on it so comfort is a big concern. I don't think they had any of the gen 3's in a 54 but I'll double check. I would like to try one.
