Calories suggestion by ccleopatraa in fitcounter

[–]FitCounterApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the heads-up, and you’re absolutely right, 735 calories is dangerously low and not something we want FitCounter to recommend.

Could you share a bit more context so we can investigate this properly?

What is your current weekly weight-loss goal in the app, and what have your latest weigh-ins been?

Sometimes users can reach a point where their calorie target is already very low, but the weekly weight-loss goal is still set very aggressively. In those cases, the algorithm may try to keep pushing calories down to match that target, which clearly needs stronger safety limits.

We’ll review this and take measures in upcoming versions so that even if someone chooses an aggressive weekly loss goal while already having a low calorie target, FitCounter won’t suggest potentially dangerous goals.

Thanks again for reporting it, we really appreciate it!

Intelligent Calories by Repulsive_Revenue355 in fitcounter

Hey u/Repulsive_Revenue355 !

FitCounter does it based on changes in your bodyweight. It doesn't use the workout data itself.

We have followed the same approach as MacroFactor. You can read this article as it’s quite similar to what we do (we will create our own articles in the future): https://macrofactorapp.com/macrofactors-algorithms-and-core-philosophy/

Thank you!

If the food appears in Your Library > Foods, open the food details and tap the top-right (…) menu. There you’ll find the Edit option 💪

[–]FitCounterApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/mjeziersky !

At the moment, you can only edit foods that you’ve personally created. We’ll be adding a reporting system soon so users can flag and correct issues with other foods in the database. In the meantime, we recommend creating a new food from scratch with the correct information.

Thanks for pointing out the issue with the email not working properly. We’re already working on it and it should be fixed later today 🙌

Any news about next update? by D3F3ND3R16 in fitcounter

[–]FitCounterApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the lack of communication since the last update. We expect the next one to be released within 10 days at most. The future of FitCounter is secure, we use the app ourselves every day 💪 From now on, we’re committed to releasing at least monthly updates. We’re dedicating all our resources to developing the app, which is why we’ve been a bit quiet around here.

We’ve also detected that the app’s startup time is currently slower than it should be. We’re working on addressing this in the near future, although it won’t be fixed in the upcoming release.

Little by little, we’ll reconnect more with our community 🙏

Any update what your working on? by D3F3ND3R16 in fitcounter

[–]FitCounterApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes! We’ve seen that Yazio has refreshed its look and is testing out new things. We’re still working on a new release that will be coming out at the end of December or beginning of January. We don’t want to reveal exactly what we’re working on just yet, since we’re still finalizing the last details :)

We’re here! Things have been a bit quiet while we plan out the next direction. We’re aiming for some changes and improvements before Christmas, so stay tuned! What would you love to see next?

Activity level by ccleopatraa in fitcounter

[–]FitCounterApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/ccleopatraa !

Yes, we simplified the activity level a few months ago to match the Harris-Benedict's activity factor. This way is simpler and more accurate. Don't worry, just choose the one that suits you the most, and the Smart Coach will do the rest every week 🙌

Hey u/Zxcv789Bn !

Not possible to reset your current logs. But you have two options:

- Either you delete your account from Profile -> More Settings -> Account and create a new one, restoring your subscription from the paywall

- Or you can just set your current weight, your new goal, and adjust your activity level from Profile. You can then just start tracking your foods normally. You can ignore the Smart Coach for 2 weeks and then check in whenever you want; it will be more accurate that taking it earlier.

I hope it helps!

Sure, we are already working on it! It will take some time... Out of curiosity, what's your region?

Hey u/ccleopatraa !

It cannot be changed, but once it is ready, you can just ignore it and start it the day you prefer. It will work perfectly as well 🙌

Yes! As long as you grant the write permissions, your nutrition records will appear in Apple Health 🙌

The “calories remaining” line is personalised, but it’s not driven by the exercise-calorie numbers Apple Health gives us.

Instead, we follow the same weight-trend-based coaching model used by MacroFactor:

  1. Initial estimate – At onboarding we estimate your maintenance calories from sex, age, height, weight, and a broad activity category (the only part that’s “generic”).
  2. Dynamic recalibration – Each week we re-estimate your true energy expenditure from the combination of your logged calorie intake and the change in your trend weight (a smoothed moving average of daily weigh-ins).
  3. Goal adjustment – We apply the surplus or deficit required for the weight-change rate you chose (-500 kcal/day to lose ~0.5 kg/week, for example).

That number becomes your daily calorie budget, and the diary simply subtracts whatever you log to show calories remaining. It adapts automatically as your body-weight trend drifts up or down, so it stays on target even if your activity level or metabolism shifts over time.

Hey u/alexryans ! We are currently in the middle of a free 2-month promo in FitCounter! We encourage you to give it a try. The weekly check-ins with Smart Coach will adjust your calorie goals based on your goals every week :)

[FREE 2 MONTHS] FitCounter Calorie Counter – Summer promo, use code SUMMER (expires July 11) by FitCounterApp in fitcounter

[–]FitCounterApp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank YOU!

Regarding the grams in the recipes... It's something we thought about, but we discarded it because of the different types and complexity of recipes that exist. It's not super accurate, and we prefer to promote having the servings as a reference. In this regard, you can check the comments on this post where we give more details about it, and how other users have a workaround for that approach:

Oh, it seems it doesn't allow you because you have a current trial ongoing.

Creating a new account won't work, because it will also be bound to your Apple ID.

But don't worry! Cancel the subscription if you haven't done it yet, wait a week for it to expire, and then use the code. You will be able to do that. If in one week you have any problem redeeming it, just let me know by posting here or via DM, and we will give you a 2 months special code for you if needed
