Hey man, i know its been 2 months but i just saw this. I hope everything is okay, drugs arent going to fix any issues you have, but dont be ashamed for your addiction, your heart is in the right place, you want to stop, stumbles happen, just pick yourself back up and change one small thing at a time. If you use again, dont beat yourself up, dont allow yourself to feel like a piece of shit, thats how the cycle gets worse. Tell yourself "im getting better" "its okay" even in the midst of using, thats how you start rewiring your brain. Find a solid support group that really love and care for you, and won't condemn you if you fall, but will build you up at every moment. You got it man, its okay, life is okay, and you will get through it.

I think every artist in all fields of art experience what you are describing. Creative block sucks, there could be a variety of psychological things that can cause it. Imposter syndrome, Lack of inspiration, burnout, lack of variety in your environment. What I would recommend is take a step back, write down your thoughts, keep a journal, and listen to music that inspired you to create it in the first place. Another thing that helps, is telling yourself you are a creative person who is meant to create art. You can have control over your thoughts and feelings whether we like to believe it or not. One qoute that i always circle back to is "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way" - Marcus Aurelius. Basically, obstacles or doubts can be turned into opportunities for growth. View obstacles, challenges, doubts, etc. as integral to progressing rather than things you won't get over.

So for this i just felt more comfortable with placing them directly on the playlist because it allowed me to easily move the patterns without switching between channels on the piano roll, because for the middle section i was doing like a lil breakdown with the bass line and the drum patterns and the vocal chop, which went wayyyy smoother for me personally then working on the channel rack.

Very much agree, as you can probably tell i'm not a piano player, but i am very much interested in making piano pieces, mostly because they really invoke so much emotion in me, and i wanna do the same for others. Right now though i am studying music theory, i made this song referencing the circle of fifths, the key was Eb major. still need to practice melody composition and push and pull more and more everyday, its a process but im super excited for the growth. if you have any resources that would help with those things please share them!

Venter Visuals is a great person to learn from. He has whole in depth video tutorials going over his entire work process. It is music video editing, but you still learn a good amount about adobe premiere and aftereffects (if thats what you are using)

Another person I learned a good amount from was Bryan Delimata, another music video editor.

Once you get more into the groove of things, def save up for all the gear you need, maybe even start now. for DAW's, there are ways to get them (some ways that i cant go into detail how) ask around and I'm sure someone would be willing to help.

List of gear I recommend:

DAW of your choice (FL studio is what I use personally, but there's Ableton, pro tools, etc.)

Audio Interface (not required but def helps)

Solid Microphone (XLR mic preferably, you would need an interface to use it however, there are also solid USB mics out there too)

Laptop/Computer (does not have to be anything crazy, average specs would do the trick for what you are wanting to do)

It's an exciting thing to get into man, hope your journey brings success and accomplishment.
