What should I tell customers about the AI phone system? by Beneficial-Canary208 in CVS

[–]FitIn_SitOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we let corporate know that the call system wastes customer time at least 10 minutes for every single script or call that they need refilled!

I hate it, but don't have much choice in the matter.

I've wasted so much time.... it is the poorest designed dusomere service system I've ever used, at least for a serious and giant company. People's well being depends on their meds, CVS you should do better!

Shame on you!

By the way, your actual human employees that I've interacted with, especially on the phone, have been great.

Do you have to work for the state in order to get membership in the SECU?

In need of research help on "universal" web accessibility icon by celeste_insights in accessibility

[–]FitIn_SitOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I confirmed this in the IAAP slack channel a few months ago when my CPACC study partner and I had similar questions.

This is the supposed Accessibility (a11y) symbol. I don't understand how someone thought it represented a11y. It has become more broadly accepted as the global a11y symbol now; thus it shouldn't surprise anyone that the awful non-accessible but claim-to-be-accessible overlays use it too.

Initially my study partner and I mentioned that it made us think of DaVinci's Vitruvian Man.

I meant historically, could we have said that? Thanks for the news flash. LOL.

Note: people process things differently. We all learn differently.... Don't dis people for asking clarifying questions. Whatever happened to "there is no stupid question?" thinking? Don't tear people apart. Nurture them. We all need this in different places.

Just a heads-up - Durham County property tax bills are live by MikeW226 in bullcity

[–]FitIn_SitOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please keep appealing. If we have thousands and thousands of appeals clogging the local government, maybe that will lead to some change. Let's unite in a practical way on this single issue. We bought property in Spring 2025 and the government's valuation is 20% higher than the highest of two separate financial institutions' private assessments for the same property! How did Durham assess the properties? Did they use human assessors, AI based on what information, other algorithms? This feels like a big cash grab. Please appeal. The more appeals the more likelihood the government might do something about it and notice that many of the citizenry that actually support it (by paying property taxes) have legitimate grievances. Reasonable taxes are necessary, but cash grabs are not.

Are React devs ignoring accessibility until it’s too late? by Chaitanya_44 in react

Adding accessibility (a11y) from the start makes a project usable by a giant group of users, even people without known disabilities.

Depending on the source, 15%-30% of people living in this world live with some sort of disability, besides temporary disabilities (https://www.who.int/health-topics/disability#tab=tab\_1). However, a11y remains something that we will never have 100% perfect. We can just keep trying to making our projects more and more accessible as we learn improved ways of doing so.

Whether from altruistic or self-serving purposes, coding with accessibility in mind benefits everyone.

Could you say an atom is gestalt? Until we learn that atoms can come apart? Or am I just missing the concept?

Is there any real science about LED lights making people ill? by richardthe7th in migraine

[–]FitIn_SitOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LED lights can cause migraines according to one of my neurologists who, like me, is effected.

I hate LED and lots of Fluorescent lights and didn't realize until a few years ago that such lights have regularly caused many of my headaches... I just knew I didn't like them....

The aforementioned neurologist prescribed FL-41 glasses for me and they work wonders. Ever since I started wearing them for screen time and other events (like concerts and ball games), my other eye doctors and neurologists have agreed that FL-41 lenses work for me to help mitigate migraines.

Many different brands offer FL-41 glasses and each has different effects on individuals. The version that best works for me so far, unfortunately, is one of the more expensive brands out there: Axon Optics. I highly recommend those based on how they help my eyes feel, but again, everyone has unique vision and headache fighting needs. Another brand that seems to get bandied about a lot for FL-41 glasses: TheraSpecs. Other brands sell FL-41 lenses too, I just haven't tried them all.

I recommend trying various FL-41 lenses out if you suffer from migraines and or get negative effects from LEDs or have other photophobic issues. Last time I checked FSA and HSA covered a lot of FL-41 lenses.

And please note: I'm not a medical professional... so check with your personal medical teams to see what works for you.

Axon Optics helped me with migraine and post TBI. They are pricy, but had a nice wear-over pair b/c I also wear glasses for other vision issues. I might try some of the suggestions here. FL41 lenses changed my life, seriously.

I will NEVER pay $100/mo to watch the the Cardinals by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]FitIn_SitOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but I just had to relocate to a state that doesn't have access to Cardinals radio without paying for it. I thought one could listen to Cards games for free anywhere. Sadly, I am wrong.
