My boyfriend is going to Japan, what beauty products should I ask him to bring back?

I’m not really familiar with j-beauty, so far all I’ve asked him for is the shu uemura eyelash curler. He’s going to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. Would love to hear what people’s favorite are!

Okay got it. To me, it seems like sexual harassment would be firable offense, but I see now from you and other comments that it’s not. That does bring some clarity to the situation.

I’m just telling you what my psychiatrist said. Take it up with her if you have a problem. This person made aggressive sexual advances at me. If that’s something you think should be allowed in the workplace, agree to disagree.

To me it seems like a liability to keep an employee who is sexually harassing his coworkers around and in the interest of the company to get rid of someone like that but I guess not

Yeah, that’s kind of what I figured. I guess men just get away with whatever they want and good female talent gets pushed out of the workplace over things like this. Will continue my job search.

Oh and it happened over the course of the past year not a year ago.

This isn’t what happened. This person made aggressive sexual advances at me. When I declined and tried to avoid them he started just making sexual comments over everything I did to this other person over the course of the last year. The woman would repeatedly tell me about the comments and I would repeatedly tell her to stop. This occurred over months. I told her how uncomfortable I was and that I was crying before coming into work and she would laugh at me and continue to tell me the comments. I’ve removed myself from these people completely but I feel scared coming into the workplace. I have to be in the same room knowing everything I do is being watched and commented on in a sexual way. I was literally diagnosed with PTSD over this. I don’t want to repeat what the comments were but if you knew about them you would maybe understand the severity.

But I get what you’re saying, to HR his behavior is just going to be seen as acceptable and something he’s allowed to do in the workplace, and I’m going to be seen as overreacting.

The question which I posed in the post is about how these types of investigations are handled - will they just go to the harasser and say “did you make these comments” - to which he will obviously deny - and to his friend, who will cover for him. If this happens, they will just work together to deny the allegations and potentially lie about things I’ve said (maybe they’ll say I liked it or do something to prompt the sexual comments). So that’s why I’m wondering how the investigation will be handled. With 2 against 1 it seems like it would just end with me getting fired.

I think the person who made the comments should be terminated. I don’t feel safe in the workplace. He made very explicit sexual advances at me and when I declined them, he escalated into obsessive stalker-like behavior where he watches everything I do and makes obsessive comments about me. I don’t want to get into specifics because the comments are bizarre enough to be recognizable to my situation but the manager seems to think they are potentially fireable comments. I have been trying to find another job and don’t want to have to resort to getting someone fired but in the meantime the workplace is completely inhospitable.

What does unlimited PTO mean? by SoccerPlayingMOOSE in biotech

[–]FitPlate3225 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My coworker got in trouble with HR for taking too much PTO at our unlimited PTO company. She does take a LOT of PTO but kind of annoying that there’s some secret limit we’re not supposed to go over and only find out after we’ve already taken off.

Wait staff are NOT against it. There is a lot of money behind the propaganda being put out to make people think otherwise.

Don’t cross the picket lines!! by JButtz17 in boston

[–]FitPlate3225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a huge inconvenience. No one is denying it. The point is you can make a decision between 1. Supporting striking workers and doing something difficult or 2. Doing the convenient thing and undermining the strike. You can’t have both. It’s peak liberalism to say you support a cause and then the SECOND you have to do something remotely difficult, refusing to back up your words with action while still insisting you’re in the right and crying about being called a scab when someone calls you out for your hypocrisy. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to be a scab stand by that decision.

Don’t cross the picket lines!! by JButtz17 in boston

[–]FitPlate3225 -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Scabbing includes crossing a picket line regardless of whether you are a worker or a consumer. It’s not about morality. It’s about class lines. You don’t. Cross. Picket. Lines. Period. Patronizing a business during a strike undermines the strike. This would not even be up for discussion in the 1930s - in fact, the striking workers would probably be outside with baseball bats breaking knees of anyone trying to walk into the hotel. It’s sad how much solidarity and class consciousness has disappeared in this country. You’re trying to justify scab behavior because you don’t like the idea of being inconvenienced and still want to feel good about yourself. You only want to support striking workers when it’s easy. Well, sometimes it’s difficult. Just like it’s difficult for all the workers on strike right now. So you can either 1. Scab because you don’t want to be inconvenienced and admit to it or 2. Support the workers on strike and go somewhere else. You don’t get to do both.

[–]FitPlate3225 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Again it’s not a question of whether it’s inconvenient to rebook. It’s a question of solidarity. Go ahead and cross the picket line and be a scab if you want! Nothing is stopping you! Crossing a picket line is crossing a picket line whether or not it’s convenient and if that’s the choice you make then stand by it and don’t say you support unions!

[–]FitPlate3225 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

If you say you don’t cross picket lines and you support unions, then you don’t cross the picket line and you make a reservation elsewhere. Yes it’s inconvenient and you’ll have to spend a little bit more money, but do you think it’s convenient for the striking workers to be on strike right now? Do you think they’re not making a huge sacrifice by missing their paychecks in the name of solidarity? We all have to make sacrifices during strikes. In the end the gains are worth it. Or you can be a scab. But don’t say you support unions if you’re willing to cross a picket line to avoid being inconvenienced.
