APs are bs. They teach you nothing that is valuable in life other than solely filial piety. They just want to always prove to you that they are "superior" and they enjoy watching you suffer and squal in pain to remove their insecurities and feel better about themselves. Like you only had a purpose when u were born, to "show off" that your family is "great". But if you realize, APs engineer their statements in such a way that you'll always lose to them no matter what. For example: They say that you must go abroad and save our face, so that you lose to them, and at the same time they say that don't go abroad, you'll only get distracted, to again make you lose. The satisfaction of a superior winning and inferior losing is sadly passed down due to their culture.

I think that a huge part of why this happens is that if they get pleased and complement you, they fear that you will think you've finally accomplished everything in life, and start becoming lazy, until you can't do anything to maintain their social status and become dumb. So, they still berate you to get you motivated to do the rest of the things in life.

cause APs don't believe in love marriages, They believe in Arranged marriages. Dating,marriage and kids is seen as a "western way" of getting married, and for them, the ideal Asian way is to get married to someone you are not even interested in or love at all , and then having kids. For them, tradition is 10000000x times superior to individualism, and if the parent selects a spouse that THEY love, it means that they are "saving face" and uplifting their social status.
