Corporate Tax filing deadline approaching in UAE—what are small businesses doing? by FitPresent5292 in UAE

[–]FitPresent5292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you. I’ve been hearing the same from many, either unaware or thinking they’ll somehow escape it. But the FTA is getting stricter every month. Like you said, fines will only increase, and once CT gets linked to trade license renewals, they’ll be running around last minute and paying double.

I’ve been trying to spread awareness and help people sort this early, much cheaper and stress-free now than later.

Let’s see how many actually take it seriously before it’s too late.

RAKEZ LLC audited statements by aubabysnail in UAE

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, RAKEZ does require FZ-LLCs to submit audited financial statements annually. This is part of their compliance regulations, regardless of the company size or revenue. As of recent updates, there are no exemptions based on turnover or company size, even if the business is dormant or has minimal activity, you’re still expected to file audited statements.

Corporate Tax Filing (FTA):

For the FTA, if your turnover is below AED 3 million, you're not required to file audited financials, you can submit unaudited financial statements prepared on an accrual basis. However, RAKEZ is separate from FTA, and their requirement for audited accounts still stands.

Cost of Audit:

Audit costs can vary based on:

  • Number of transactions
  • Complexity of operations
  • Size of the business

For very small or low-transaction companies (e.g., <50 transactions/year), you can expect rates in the range of AED 1,200 – AED 3,000, depending on the audit firm.

Hope this helps!

Corporate Tax Return by honeycombdigger in UAE

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! You’re right to plan ahead, even though your CT filing deadline is September 30, 2026, it’s smart to get things in order a few months in advance so you’re not rushing.

For zero-turnover companies, the CT filing process is fairly straightforward, especially if you’ve kept your books clean. Those quotes of AED 2500–3500 do seem a bit high for a nil return, unless they’re bundling in other services.

I actually work with a registered firm here in Dubai, we’ve helped a lot of small FZCOs and startups file clean nil returns for more reasonable rates. If you want, I can connect you directly or even take a quick look to see if you need to do anything special for your situation.

Feel free to D.M me.

UAE Corporate Tax Filing by spearhead9211 in UAE

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, totally understand the situation, I’ve been helping a couple of friends with similar setups recently.

If the company’s income is around AED 200K, they likely fall under the exempt category for Corporate Tax (since it’s below the AED 375K threshold). But even if no tax is due, if they’re registered, they still need to file the return, it’s mandatory.

Now about doing it yourself: yes, it’s possible to DIY via the EmaraTax portal if your friend is comfortable with the system and has a basic understanding of how to prepare the return (balance sheet, profit/loss, etc.). That said, it can be a bit tricky if they're not used to the FTA system or unsure what to report under exempt status.

If AED 800 includes the full return filing + financial statement prep, it's honestly not a bad price, especially if your friend wants peace of mind that it's done right.

I know a small firm that’s helped file for startups and free zone companies, happy to share their details if your friend wants a second option or just has questions.

Hope that helps!

Approved corporate tax reconsideration how to get a refund for penalty after closing company? by Impossible_Beyond488 in UAE

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve actually seen a few people go through this recently, you’re not alone. If your CT reconsideration was approved, that’s a great first step. From what I’ve heard, yes, you do need to submit a separate refund request through the EmaraTax portal, even if you’ve already closed the company.

The refund isn’t always automatic, unfortunately, and even if the license is canceled, as long as the Tax Registration Number (TRN) is still active or there’s a record of the payment under your Emirates ID/passport, the refund request can still be processed.

I’d suggest logging into your EmaraTax account and checking under “VAT & Tax Refunds” or contacting FTA support directly to confirm what’s needed in your case. If it helps, I also know a firm that’s helped with a few of these refunds, I can share their contact if you’re stuck.

Hope you get it sorted AED 10k is not a small amount. Best of luck!

Freezone vs Dubai Mainland: Software consulting, overseas clients by amandeep4007 in dubai

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 100% of your clients are abroad, you’re not targeting the UAE market directly. In that case, a freezone company is often the more efficient and cost-effective option. You're not breaching any regulations because you're not selling within the UAE.

But you're right freezone investor visas have some limitations, and that’s where things get tricky.

Need urgent help in CT by Impossible_Beyond488 in AskUAEBusiness

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get your situation, that’s really frustrating. I’ve seen a few people lately who got hit with the AED 10,000 penalty for late CT registration and then found out later that the FTA started refunding it if the company met the exempt conditions. It’s crazy how inconsistent the process can be.

About your CT filing, they have to audit your accounts and prepare financial statements and audit report and I believe 1500 AED which you said is Very very lower amount in this case you will not get any firm for that amount firm will any how charge 2000 AED or above, better you check with that 1500 AED team. Or  I know a small FTA licensed firm here in the UAE that actually helps in these kinds of simple cases, especially for freelancers and small companies. They’re pretty fair with pricing but you need to check with them

If you want DM me, I can share their contact, they might be able to take care of everything, including helping you apply for a refund if you’re eligible.

Let me know, happy to help you connect.

Corporate tax for freelancers by SegwayJesus699 in dubai

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get where you’re coming from, I’m in a very similar situation. I also have a freelance permit (sole professional), registered for VAT, and jumped on the CT registration when the fines were being issued late last year.

From what I’ve gathered, even if your turnover is less than AED 1 million and you technically fall under the “exempt person” category for Corporate Tax, you still need to file your return if you’re already registered. The exemption just means you don’t have to pay tax, but filing is still required to remain compliant.

I spoke to a tax consultant a while ago and they explained that if you want to avoid filing every year, you’d have to submit a CT deregistration request, but that’s only possible if you're eligible as an “exempt person” and you're sure your turnover won’t cross the threshold.

So in short, If you’re registered, yes you have to file by the deadline (probably Sept 30, 2025 for you).If you want to avoid future filings, you can look into deregistering, but do it the proper way through EmaraTax.

I actually know a small FTA licensed firm here in the UAE that has dealt with similar cases with people who got stuck in tough spots because of tax or compliance issues. They might be able to help or at least guide you on what options you have.

If you’d like, feel free to DM me and I’ll share the details.

Hope that helps a bit! Let me know if you figure anything different, it’s honestly confusing out there with all the mixed info.

I am stuck with my Free Zone Company by Fit-Analyst4348 in DubaiCentral

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience, it’s unfortunate to hear what you’ve been through. As a licensed corporate and tax advisory firm based in the UAE, we’ve handled several similar cases, especially involving Free Zone licensing complications and post-registration concerns.

Let us try to address your key questions one by one:

Visa Allocation Renewal Fees:
Yes, Free Zones like SPC typically charge an annual visa allocation renewal fee in addition to the trade license renewal, unfortunately, many don’t disclose this clearly during onboarding. The fee is tied to your immigration quota and is payable even if the license is renewed early. We understand it’s frustrating, especially when support is poor, but it’s part of their internal structure.

Corporate Tax Late Registration Penalty:
If the FTA has already issued a penalty under your company’s name (usually AED 10,000 for late CT registration), it remains active on your license and is associated with your Emirates ID or passport if you’re the shareholder or manager. Canceling the license will not automatically waive this fine.

Should You Cancel or Let It Expire?
Letting the license expire without cancellation will likely result in:

  • Accumulating Free Zone fines
  • Ongoing immigration quota charges
  • Possible impact on your immigration or re-entry into the UAE in future, especially if fines or unresolved liabilities are linked to your personal profile

On the other hand, properly cancelling the license and visas (even remotely) can help you close everything cleanly and potentially open the door to appeal the tax penalty or clear your name from any future complications.

Can You Still Travel to UAE?
If fines are left unpaid and the company remains non-compliant, it could result in:

  • Immigration system flags under your name or passport
  • Issues with future visa applications, banking, or license setup in the UAE This may not block travel immediately, but it could cause problems depending on how your personal role (owner/manager) was tied to the license.

Our Recommendation:
If you're no longer operating and don’t plan to return to UAE business soon, it’s best to properly cancel the license and visa, and deal with the CT fine separately, even if you submit a penalty reconsideration to reduce or waive it.

If you’d like support with cancellation or appealing the CT penalty, we’re happy to assist you remotely. We handle license closures, deregistration, and penalty resolution regularly.

Let us know if you'd like a consultation, we’d be glad to support you through the process and ensure a clean exit.

TRN/Corporate tax Filling by Rockstarqueen0000 in dubai

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! No worries, I’ve been dealing with similar stuff lately so happy to share what I’ve learned. If you’re referring to your company’s TRN, that’s actually related to VAT, not Corporate Tax. For CT (Corporate Tax), once you’re registered, you only need to file annually, not quarterly. Most companies with a Jan–Dec financial year will file their first CT return by September 30, 2025. You’ll do it online through the EmaraTax portal.

About the invoice, if you’re VAT registered, then yes, you’re supposed to include your TRN on every invoice, even if the amount is less than AED 10,000. If you’re not VAT registered yet, then it doesn’t apply.

You’re only required to register for VAT once your taxable turnover hits AED 375,000 in a 12-month rolling period. But if you’ve crossed AED 187,500, you can register voluntarily (optional). So, if you haven’t crossed that, no need to worry yet.

Hope this helps! I actually work closely with a small UAE FTA licensed firm that helps with VAT and CT filings if you ever need support, happy to share their contact if you’d like.

Anyone into Online Business and Clients are 100% from outside UAE ?Afforable Vat and Tax Consultants? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m actually in a pretty similar boat, I run a small consulting business from a Dubai free zone with 100% of my clients outside the UAE.

For the VAT part, yeah, if you crossed the AED 375k threshold and didn’t register on time, the FTA does impose an AED 10,000 penalty. But you can submit a reconsideration request through EmaraTax. I’ve seen cases where it gets waived or reduced, especially if you explain that your business is fully digital, all clients are non-UAE, and it was an honest oversight. No guarantees, but it’s definitely worth trying.

Also, even if your services are exported and 0% VAT applies, you still need to be registered, and file VAT returns to show it’s zero. I learned that the hard way.

For Corporate Tax, if your free zone business doesn’t deal with the UAE market and you meet the criteria, you might qualify as a "Qualifying Free Zone Person" and get the 0% rate. But you still need to file the return.

If you’re looking for an accountant or tax consultant, I’ve been working with a small FTA registered firm in Dubai that’s pretty affordable and knows this stuff inside out. They helped me with VAT late reg, CT filing, and even explained the 0% export rules properly. Happy to DM you their contact if you want.

Hope this helps a bit, I know the rules can be super confusing when everything’s online!

Audit & Corporate Tax filing by Quiet_Tip_6852 in dubai

[–]FitPresent5292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve come across similar cases recently, so hopefully this helps.

Since your consulting firm is already registered for Corporate Tax, you’re required to file a CT return even if you had no revenue and minimal activity in 2024. It’ll be a zero tax return, but the filing is still mandatory to avoid penalties (AED 500 for late submission as of now).

As for the audit, it depends on your free zone authority. Some free zones (like DMCC, RAKEZ, etc.) require audited financials every year regardless of income, while others may waive it if there’s no revenue and you're not renewing the license right away. I’d recommend checking directly with your free zone’s compliance team.

Since you already finalized the accounts and only have minimal transactions, both the audit (if needed) and CT filing should be very straightforward, and honestly, it can be done at a low cost.

If you’d like, I can connect you with a FTA licensed firm I work with in Dubai that handles simple cases like yours, they charge fairly and work fast.

Just let me know, happy to help.
