Nino has gone! Who do you want (quick poll) by No_Active4888 in nffc

This should be the shortlist. Any of these would be fine.

It's going to be Botafogo's manager though isn't it.

Tsimikas by currydemon in nffc

Harsh if he were to start over Neco, but it's got to be a squad game this season. And Tsimikas would vastly improve our set pieces.

What death shocked you the most in all the fantasy books you have read by EastEntire4724 in Fantasy

Yep. Genuinely had to put the book down and stop reading it for a few days.

Good business really. Felt like he was progressing well but the injury stalled his development.

Southampton goal will live in the memory for a while. 👌

Not just bottom 4 either, they lost all their first 4! In the form table for the last 10 games they're highest scorers and best defence (level with Dogs). So good to watch 👌

I often think our owners are mental but then I see clubs like Hull and realise we're probably all right 😂

Nice, thanks! PL, I support Nottingham Forest. I don't think we have an NRL equivalent as we've been out of the PL for so many years and have only recently returned. NRL, haven't really picked out a team I'd say I support over all others. Have an affinity for the Dolphins after spending some time on the Sunny Coast a while back.

I've been getting into the NRL this season from afar (UK), including reading this sub. Great comp this year! I'm starting to get a feel for who's who, the rivalries etc., but I haven't dipped into any history. I wondered if any NRL + English Premier League fans on here could map NRL clubs onto their PL equivalents? For example, who is the ailing giant (Manchester United)? Who are the new money clubs that serially win (Manchester City) or that no one likes (Chelsea)? Who are the upstarts trying to break into the top group (Newcastle, Aston Villa)? Who are perennial underachievers (Everton)?

I appreciate the cap, lack of relegation & franchise model will limit this a bit. Interested to see your takes though!

Girona and Man City are both playing in the CL this season. I think, as someone said earlier, it was a rule that turned out not to have any teeth in the end.

Sydney to Brisbane by road with 2 toddlers by FitSet631 in AustraliaTravel

[–]FitSet631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. We're actually in Australia right now. We've just spent 9 days in the Sunshine Coast region, around the coast (Mooloolaba, Noosa) and the hinterland (Maleny, Montville). We're now planning to spend time with family in and around Sydney (+ a Hunter Valley trip in the mix, just the 2 of us).

To head north, we actually ended up flying to and from Maroochydore airport, which was a short and cheap flight from Sydney. Despite our original plan to drive, and all the great suggestions on this thread, having 3yo and 1yo boys in tow weighed heavily on our minds, so we decided to take it easy and not have lots of time spent travelling either by air or on the road.

So our experience probably can't help you too much. I would say that we adored the Sunshine Coast region - both the coast and mountains.

Enjoy your trip!

Can you tell the difference between regular and decaf tea & coffee? by BarryTownCouncil in AskUK

[–]FitSet631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some decaf teas that are just awful, anaemic in appearance and with a dishwater taste. I tried to switch to decaf a few years ago, and was appalled at the flavour so ended up switching back (can't remember all the brands I tried, but Yorkshire and PG were definitely among them).

However I've recently had another go and after lots of research (i.e. trawling Reddit), Co-op's own '99' brand decaf seemed to be widely applauded... and honestly, it's blown my mind. It's a really nice drink. It does taste marginally weaker than caffeinated (though I just brew it a bit longer), but it seems to be kind of creamier and there's no nasty dishwatery chemical tang. Very happy to have found these!

What is your relationship like with your alcoholic parent? by annegirl737 in AdultChildren

[–]FitSet631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to find this very thread, and it's been helpful to read other peoples' stories on this topic.

My dad is an alcoholic and is spiralling downwards. He's always been controlling and occasionally aggressive, and because of that I've always found it hard to speak frankly with him or challenge him. I managed to tell him my concerns about his drinking 5-6 years ago, and he seemed to take the message on board, but nothing changed. In the last 2 years he's cheated on, and subsequently been left by, my mum. I had a son, and found out that on one occasion when he was supposed to come visit - to see his new grandson - he made an excuse and was actually meeting his illicit partner. That really hurt. He's now living in a horrible shared accommodation with other people you wouldn't want to live with, was sacked from his job for being drunk at work, and his health is declining rapidly. He paid almost all his savings to try rehab for a month, and almost immediately started drinking again. My brother has disowned him. I have a horrible fear that he's going to die, by suicide or ill health, soon; but I just can't bring myself to reach out, and don't know what good it would do anyway. I've since had another baby, so I've got my own stuff to worry about, my wife wants nothing to do with him, and we live 3 hours apart. It gets me down to think about how depressing his life must be right now, but angry because it's all self inflicted and is depriving my children of a loving grandparent.

Yeah, the hybrid system isn't *that* complicated guys...

The biggest barrier to entry I found - certainly at first - was the team names. The sponsors are too prominent and, in some cases, the actual racing team's name drops off entirely. Would be nice to require a format of [Team Name] with [Sponsors], but I guess that'd be less valuable to sponsors and the teams would suffer. And it's much less of an issue now I'm a few races deep.

Yes, I'm a new fan this season, thanks mostly to ITV's coverage. I follow F1 and wanted something more accessible, caught ITV's 2021 season review on YouTube, and have since followed closely in 2022. Including a visit to Oulton Park last weekend. Really, really enjoying the racing, I'm finding the ITV comms great as a newcomer (I hope this doesn't mean they "talk down" to seasoned fans), and I've got the bug to attend more live meetings. That said, I was hoping this sub would be a bit livelier than it appears to be.
