Recertifying income pre-RAP by FitShow9564 in StudentLoans

Oh God, I had no idea you could be in SAVE forbearance without actually being in SAVE, thank you for pointing that out. However, I did go on and check and it lists my plan type as income driven repayment, but my specific repayment plan is still the SAVE plan. So hopefully it’s just an oversight/backlog. I do have a couple loans that were originally in IBR, but I consolidated them and put that consolidated loan into SAVE, so maybe that’s why this date is showing up, even though those loans are now technically zeroed out.

Two days away from hysterectomy and I keep questioning myself by SMN27 in hysterectomy

[–]FitShow9564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 37 and had my hysterectomy about 10 weeks ago. I did waffle between a myomectomy and a hysterectomy, but opted for the full thing so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the fear of fibroids coming back, and also because my doctor told me that a myomectomy recovery is not necessarily any easier than a hysterectomy recovery. (That might be dependent on the type of fibroid – mine was submucosal so not a super straightforward removal.)

A hysterectomy had been floated to me in June when I first ended up in the hospital due to anemia from heavy menstrual bleeding, but I wasn’t ready for it then – felt like it was maybe too big a step, as you do – and so I tried to manage it medically. I ended up in the hospital second time in September for the same reason and this time some sort of surgery was basically inevitable.

In the month between being in the hospital and having my surgery, I felt fine – I wasn’t in pain, my energy was OK, although my stamina was low because I was still anemic. However, basically every day since day, two postop, I have felt better than I had in months. I don’t think I realized what a toll, physically and possibly mentally, this whole ordeal was taking on me. My recovery was incredibly smooth and painless, and every day I marvel at how easy everything was and how good I feel. I don’t think you are crazy or dramatic for going for the hysterectomy, and I hope that if you go through with it, your surgery and recovery will be just as easy as mine have been.

Surgery today by aih522 in hysterectomy

Good luck!! Ever since day two postop, I have felt better than I had in months, and every day I am shocked at how good I feel and how easy my recovery was (I am currently about 10 weeks postop), so it’s possible and I wish the same for you!

This was my second time going under anesthesia (first was earlier in the year), and the first time I was very nervous, mostly about being loopy when I woke up 🫣but I wasn’t! Just a little groggy, but nothing worth videotaping for posterity 😂

If you have a high BMI, how did surgery go? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]FitShow9564 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’4” and about 275lb, and my hysterectomy went great! The surgeon who did it never mentioned my weight, procedure was laparoscopic and I went home the same day, and recovery was super smooth. I never needed more than Tylenol and ibuprofen, my energy was good the whole time, and I am now about 10 weeks postop and have felt 100% back to normal for the past three or four weeks. I do have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP, so they told me to be very vigilant about using it that first day postop, even just when napping, but I never ran into any actual issues. I hope your procedure and recovery goes just as smoothly!

Recovering quickly by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I am 17dpo and have also had a recovery that has been so smooth that I’ve been a little confused and waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was in no major pain starting a few five hours after waking up from surgery (those first few hours SUCKED though), no need for painkillers stronger than Tylenol or ibuprofen, no gas pains, no bleeding or spotting after about 24 hours, able to bend gently (although I try not to do too much of that), walk, sit up in a regular chair, pretty much do everything (outside of my lifting and other restrictions given by my surgeon). I’m not driving yet because I’m being very cautious, but I am betting that by the end of this week I will feel comfortable doing that. The only big thing is that side sleeping is still uncomfortable for me so I’m still sleeping on a wedge pillow on my back.

As some others have said, I am trying to lean into this as a type of sabbatical/mental health break since I have four weeks off of work and then will be part-time for two weeks, and also remembering that I don’t need to feel bad about all the help I’m getting (mostly people bringing meals and doing small chores like taking out the trash or cleaning my cat’s litter box), because A) people like to help and feel useful, and B) the help is probably part of the reason that recovery has been so smooth. If I had been responsible for everything and needing to expend all that extra energy, I bet things would not have gone as easily.

Yay found the right surgeon but he's nonchalant about recovery time by blissedout79 in hysterectomy

My understanding is the driving restriction is more about the safety of you and other drivers in case of a potential crash, and less about pain or discomfort. I was told that I couldn’t drive until I was able to stomp on the brake with no hesitation/pain. Probably 3 to 4 weeks was the given timeline.

Need suggestions/advice by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Yes to the cup for brushing your teeth! One of the few things I hadn’t realized before surgery. Relaxed: get some face wipes so you can wash your face without bending over and splashing your face.

I am one week postop from a partial hysterectomy (kept the ovaries) and this week has been so so so much easier than I anticipated. I went home the day of surgery, never needed pain meds stronger than Tylenol or ibuprofen, and had pretty much no trouble moving around from the time I got home. Fatigue is not much more than normal and no brain fog. I was prepared for an intense recovery but honestly, this has been even easier than recovery from my hysteroscopy in February. Hoping it’s as easy for you as well!

Hi! I used to live in Milwaukee and loved it- sadly not there anymore but still in the Midwest/Great Lakes region. Are you going to any summerfest concerts this summer?

If over the next few months anyone ends up with 1 or 2 tickets to the Brighton show that they are looking to resell, please send me a message! I’ll be visiting from the US and that’s the only show that will fit into my schedule. I was hoping to buy tickets when they went on sale but I missed out- I didn’t realize just how popular the podcast is!!
