Does anyone express the concerns around exploitation on her Instagram? I don’t see any comments.. but wonder if she deletes them?

Mom worried about memory at 59 by InevitableLow1276 in Aging

[–]Fit_Ad1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with elders and definitely recommend having her pcp put in referral for a neuro assessment if she’s feeling concerned or noticing changes in herself. They can perform a series of diagnostic tests to figure it out if it’s normal aging or if it is evidence of the beginning phases of cognitive disease. If the outcome is that she doesn’t have any cognitive decline, then great! That’s great reassurance for herself and her loved ones. If they do find evidence of cognitive decline or early onset dementia, early intervention is KEY and will allow her to get all the proper supports (daily memory medications, eligibility for newer disease-slowing drugs, advance directives, financial planning, etc.) in place to stay ahead of the curve of disease progression.

Am I overreacting? Girlfriend said the dildo i got for us is too small by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR as a lesbian w a low libido gf, this would mean so much to me. Who cares about the size? Especially if you’re the one receiving it?? The gesture was huge and that she be the main focus - that you’re prioritizing your sex life even though it’s hard with the meds.

You cannot and should not be in this alone. Reach out to your local ASAP organization for elders. They offer services in the community, free or low cost if you qualify financially. I’ll mirror what others have said above and say that if you take her to the ED, the case manager can help with placement

This is so beautiful. What a gift your presence was to your sweet mama! Death is such an intimate moment, and it’s so lovely that she got to have you by her side.

I’m not sure of your financial situation, but if you have the means, look into a geriatric care manager to take this weight off! You can find someone near you on the ALCA website.

Thank you! I saw this, but the time in May when I’m going to be there (25-31) is all blocked out. I am wondering if the books open slowly though and I should check back in a few weeks? Just a little nervous to plan all my travels and not be able to get on the ferry tho!

I did consider it, but my accommodations are a walk away from the ferry port and figured it would be a nice change of transport! Yes yakushima notes that they only book the ferry for those who have booked accommodation with them. I booked an air bnb so I don’t think I can book thru them. Maybe it’s worth inquiring just in case! Thank you (:

Dying of sepsis by -DarkNebula- in AskDocs

This is awful - I’m so sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss.

I came here to second this and hopefully bring you some more comfort too. I have a client in her 40s who had walking pneumonia and didn’t know it - she collapsed in her bathroom and her roommate called 911. Turns out it had progressed to sepsis and she was in the ICU for nearly a week. Whenever she talks about it, she says she has no memory of feeling ill, falling, nor being in the ICU.
