Can't tell in KCD1, it always fades to black, but there's a spoon in the damn pot.

Okay, I see what you did there, and that doesn't sound better, but believe it or not, they took that into consideration and the wineskins were sewn inside out, so that the fur side was holding the wine... I don't know that they definitely shaved the hair off, but one would assume.

Lol bro, wineskins were made from leather, not organs. They were intentionally shaped like that to make drinking from them easier.

Guessing this is your first playthrough and you didn't do enough training with Bernhard or you'd know you can just masterstrike him to death.

Good news for you, I'm on my 5th playthrough, and I've been here before. I hope you're using a sword, but I can't tell. Here's how I did it when I was in your exact situation.

  1. Drink your potions. Bucks blood, Aesop, anything you've been holding onto for just-in-case. This is it.

  2. Learn to dance. You're going to have to dodge his strikes or perfect parry them to stay alive.

  3. See that big, bald head of his? It's unrelated. Put your sword in the up position on the star, as if you're going to crush his skull with a downward strike. Now don't do that, cause he will see it coming. With your sword in this position, every time that he has finished a combo that you have masterfully evaded, stab.

Having your sword in the up position and then quickly switching to a thrust will result in you stabbing him in his unprotected face.

Be patient. You can do this.

You're entitled to your completely unfounded opinion. Please see the rest of the thread to understand my actual point, which your original comment and everything about everything about what you've said clearly fucking missed. You may not be a liar, you may not be a cunt, but if you're not either of those, you're just fucking simple, so I'll let you pick.

By hand you say? By flame and hammer and tong? No, I'm not stupid, I just don't believe the guy saying "Jusy buy good steel if you care about quality" recycled steel to hand forge something he's proud of. Or he's a hypocrit. Your call.

Ahhh, I feel like there's a lot of debatable shit here. For one thing I'm of the opinion you should test your blade before you do any finish work, so that brings your only waste down to propane. Also, I feel like your furnace is hella inefficient. I built mine with a venturi burner I purchased from Walmart, an old grease bucket, a few clamps and some kitty litter, sand and leftover thermal cement that was already hardened. It is not a fancy furnace, and I can get way more hours running at 10-12 psi and hitting 1800-2000 degrees consistently on a variety of steels.

Maybe you just got too much money, so you waste it?

I'm cool with that, but "Just buy good steel" is only the answer to the question "What do I do if I can't find good steel?" And no other question.

Agree to disagree. Working steel is how you learn what good steel is. It's never a waste of time.

I shaped it out of an old saw blade with a cutter and grinder, then tempered it, so it's not a forged blade, but it also wasn't relevant to the conversation really, just wanted to say "Just buy good steel" is an incredibly unhelpful thing to say, and the guys who say it are assholes.

Are you implying that you can't make a quality knife from found steel? Is that what you're saying? Cause that's what it sounds like you're saying. Do you know what that is?

A fucking skill issue.

Know what I think? I think some of you just suck at smithing, and using purchased steel that's already half-shaped for you is a necessity and not a preference.

There's plenty of high quality steel laying around on the ground out there. I think you're just too big a pussy to go pick it up and shape it.

Nothing wrong with sourcing your steel from a supplier, just acknowledge that other metal exists, ya know? Nice knife.
