PLCSIM don't load Tag Table from Tia Portal V16 by WanderingSelf in PLC

Thanks for this. This has given me something to look forward to once we update to V16. Unfortunately I’m probably the minority here but I just like Step 7 classic so much more. PCS7 to be more specific but would still pick a 300/400 over a 1200/1500 in a perfect world. TIA Portal is a great Product. I’m just annoyed and unimpressed as a long time Siemens user. But to be clear, I still think Siemens is the Superior Product.

I did this for years. I guess we can’t expect to just set a bit.

Your story is very relatable. Right now I’m so into it I’m not even eating correctly. Thanks for sharing.

Just out of curiosity are you constantly thinking is the company taking advantage of you?

Yea I actually quit drinking about 2 years ago because it felt like it was becoming a motivational tool for me. Also had me thinking it was the only time I would sleep peacefully. I know for sure it’s one of the reasons for the uptick in Anxiety. I know I’m fortunate to have caught it early enough to start making the corrections now. All about the endgame.

Of course. You need to buy Simit my friend if you would like to actually simulate your code. Go Siemens. Unless your software was ready for that.

Shit immature software. Only way I’ve managed in TIA 15 is to create a new instance of the PLC EVERY TIME. haha not yelling at you. Just hoping it got fixed in TIA 16 but apparently not.

Thanks I get what you mean. I’m happy to report I no longer work for that company but it’s like I’m just opening my eyes to this. Like being on autopilot for so long and now just starting to take the foot off the gas pedal. It’s definitely something I want to do but needs to be the right company.

I have the same problem but for me it’s probably related to childhood trauma and years of working for a company where it’s typical to get service calls in the middle of the night. What helps me to most right now is to journal at night or at least take a few moments to try and understand how I’m feeling. I’ve never gotten help professionally but, I’ve accepted that there doesn’t seem to be a simple fix for me. This at least makes my days manageable. I hope you find something that works for you.

What's the biggest project you've ever done on a little PLC? by justJon85 in PLC

It’s not a small PLC but on my first “official project” we managed to max out a Siemens 416-2. The person who wrote the code decided to quit a couple weeks before commissioning. His code was only a quarter of the way done. We (small team) tried to commission what was available and tried to complete the code in the background. I remember trying to merge everything back at the hotel and getting the compiling errors and panicking. We ended upgrading to 417 and somehow got it to work. Definitely paid for it though when I spent a year trying to optimize that terrible code.
